I work for a bank, we do not pass details of passports to CRA's. The passport copies are scanned on to our system and returned to the applicants. There is no address on a Passport, it would be of no use to a CRA.

CRAs can and do provide bespoke analytics services and also provide marketing services including hosting services for others but I'm not aware of this type of data ever being used for these cases.

I can see Identity products provided by CRAs adopting services that scan and read a passport / driving licence to aid in ID verification and Fraud prevention more so given current government initiatives as they drive their online portal and need an effective digital Identity.

The only way you can know for sure is to spend £10 on an FSAR.

the answer to the question is very simply 'no'. Your passport is not linked to your credit records.

Do Experian no longer hold your passport number? - they did many years ago.

Reported on credit files? Or held in a separate database for some other reason?

What does separate database mean? It is irrelevant how many databases or computers physically exist. Any application can be designed to query any database that it has access to. So, if there is a passports database and a name-and-address database, the application can be made to query both sets of data and produce a result such as a list of occupants living at the same address as a given passport holder. Experain DO have an identity verification APP called autodoc-id. They also do Identity checking using passport and CAIS data for "VERIFY". Therefore, they MUST have a passport database and they must have an application to combine it with CAIS. I don't get why the rep has not confirmed this. It is quite clear from other posters that most people are not aware of how their data is processed and the rep should set it straight. What we do not know is whether Experain have an application to provide a service to banks where the bank sends passport data to Experain when an account is applied for over the counter. That was the OPs question.

Because it would be a massive embarrassment to do so. I doubt we will ever get an answer to the vital question.
