Is that £18.50 plus line rental? Asking because via that link I've been offered £33.49 for infinity 2 incl line rental, 18 month contract which I think is not a bad deal. Currently on fibre 1 for £10/month plus line rental0

Yes it was £18.50 plus £18.99 line rental. 12 month contract.
There was an offer for Infinity 2 for £14.00 plus £18.99 line rental but that was a 24 month contract.0 -

That is a really good deal.
Makes you wonder why BT bother putting the prices up if they then offer huge discounts for new contracts.
Because just like insurance companies and other telecommunications companies etc, they know there are plenty of apathetic consumers who will happily go on paying top whack and don't negotiate. These are the ones who they make the big money off.0 -

I guess because 95% of people will just pay the extra whilst moaning about it and won't even haggle/look for a discount. So BT still wins overall0 -

Yes but the offers BT are giving are not hidden. They are showing in the online accounts and are available for every customer. The price increase email even directs you to a special offer page.
They are putting prices up but offering discounts to renew contracts without the need for haggling.
Guess they just want to have everyone tied in to contracts. No point really as you can get out of them if the price goes up.0 -

It's not a case of them being hidden. Actually, the fact people are taking up these 'offers' linked to through the email goes some way to proving my point about apathy. Around £33/34 a month seems to be the standard price across quite a few ISPs for that sort of package. So it's not that great an offer, more just 'the price'.
It's an easy option for people and BT know that those who do think about leaving will probably stay if they think they are getting a deal, even if it isn't really.
The test would be to see how many people have rejected this and either got a proper offer from BT or gone to another ISP. Hopefully lots of MSE users have0
