Yes - I clearly had one of those insane moments. What was I thinking? After two years plus on major projects with tight deadlines my poor garden took second place to the work and it certainly shows.

Nightmare! We have a glass domino gas hob in the Kitchen that we use throughout the summer with the half-size built in oven (microwave, fan and grill) and turn off the electric range cooker (which is on all the time). The glass has now cracked from the top, right down to the metal band across the controls. We will have to replace it. That is manageable and inevitable.
What is unexpected is that the cut-out is not standard. The worktop is really thick granite (40mm) and the domino hobs now are all narrower than the one we have. After lots of research it seems there are no hobs the same size now. So since we cannot go smaller we must go wider. I have found a stainless steel model that is exactly the same length (front to back) but it needs 220mm wider hole. I have no idea at this stage whether this can be done by a builder and will have to research further. I have no idea if they can do it in situ (the granite is connected to an L-shaped bit) but that is what I need. I really don't want to gave to replace the granite, or the tiles, extractor, wall cupboards or all their contents. Like I say, nightmare!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

One of my fairly new sweatshirts started to lose its softness and the fabric to feel a bit stiff - socks go the same way, and T-shirts. I put it back in the WM on a rinse and spin cycle and it has got its mojo back. I am going to try this with DH's T-shirts (vests) and socks to see if it revives them. I may reduce the laundry gloop to about half what I use currently to see if it makes it worse or better.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Frustrating news on the stove top. It is so frustrating when they change the dimensions of things. We are 'sprucing' up our kitchen (new worktops, tiles and painting cabinets) and standard kitchen units are now have less depth so it was terribly frustrating trying to find new worktops wide enough.
I never use the recommended amount of laundry liquid, I find my skin and SC's skin flares up if i do and the fabric just doesn't feel nice, a bit like when you don't wash the conditioner out of your hair properly.debt consolidated 16/8/18 £9,788.01/£12,618.12(Total debt at LBM 1st Jan '18 c..£19.5k)

My arms are really stinging now! Goose grass and nettle stings from this afternoon's bag of garden weeds. It really would be nice to get to the stage where I can sprinkle some compost around to mulch down some spaces between the plants and not spend my whole time pulling stuff out!
I planted yet more seeds too but twisted in the kitchen and something went pop in my right knee. Hence skiving on here instead of getting on with it! Time to test it by making a cup of tea I thinkSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Well I (as part of a team of 3) made lunch for 25 people today - it was lovely - we decided to go hot in view of the weather forecast and had chicken casserole with mixed veg and new potatoes, followed by a choice between two fruit crumbles, served with greek yogurt, cream or creme fraiche and a choice of tea or coffee. Bargain for £3.50 and we made a profit of about £25 too!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Just popping in for a catch up. Nightmare with the hob, but I think anyone who fits granite work surfaces should be able to sort out for you. We had a similar problem with our Corian work surface and I just got a local company that fit Corian to do it.
Your lunch sounds fantastic x1 -

hope the knee was nothing serious.
