    The holiday is lovely.
Mr Star is home for a few weeks which is wonderful (he brings me tea in bed every morning, it's worth having him home just for that)

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend in the sunshine.

I'm a bit achy at the moment - lots more in the garden but loads and loads still to do. I have been digging through one of the triple height raised beds and trying to remove bindweed growing up from the bottom  nightmare. All the white roots are so brittle.

In money news I am desperate for the end of DH's working month - he should get paid tomorrow. I will be spending big both today and tomorrow - 4 new tyres today, back doors being fitted tomorrow.

I have popped out to check my seedlings in the greenhouse. I think mice have been in the seed trays as there were a couple of husks on the surface, pretending to be blossom. I have planted the rest of my butternut squash and cucumber seeds and more yellow courgettes indoors to be sure and will give the beans a week before planting more (indoors) I think they will all need to be germinated indoors before putting them out. Very sad, I spent absolutely hours planting and labelling.

Speaking of labelling - my permanent marker isn't and all the salad crop labels have lost their notes of what they are. So now I have a collection of row markers and we will mostly be guessing! Radish are in the lead so far and quite recognisable with their little clover like leaves.

It is raining (or was, when I logged into online banking) so hence lurking and a quick catch up on here. Might be back later

I can see it but I can't touch it - DH has been paid but if I spend today it will show as overdrawn. I have the man here today fitting 2 back doors. One of the frames is damaged so they will have to come back. Rather frustrating as it will remain unfinished on the outside until the replacement comes.

My stores and fridge are bulging and I don't actually need to go out until much later! My grocery spend is running at 21.7% for my first four months at £200 a month but when I take my stores spend into account I have spent 44% of that budget in the first four months. I blame stocking up for B-exit. It will even out but I must not fritter or impulse buy. And I don't need any more wine. I repeat (note to self) no more wine!

We have done the wine thing recently. Grabbing a bottle or two when I do a shop. The thing is it doesn't get drunk. I wont drink while Mr Star is away and he has barely been home. the 'wine' cupboard is now overflowing to the worktop and I do hate kitchen clutter. :rotfl:

I know - I confess to a 25 bottle wine rack in the larder that has three rows of bottles on top - and a wine fridge of cold white wine outside for Justin Case (not a frequent visitor). I really must get a grip, as my diary title suggests. It is so nice though, opening and having a glass with a meal!

Right then, my thread trackers are gradually updating in my signature as the thread managers are updating them.

DH has 54 more get ups before he stops work (that is five weeks less one B-Hol, then half-term followed by the last six weeks where he no longer has a form as they will be off. To mark this, he put in his occupational pension claim last week - so all the paperwork will go through for 1st Sept and his last pay will be at the end of August.

He confessed to really not liking getting up and leaving me asleep in bed - I might get up earlier for the last few weeks as it is now daylight as I don't want his last few weeks to be resented, and I can do some early morning chores and getting on with it all. I'm aware that the impending Village event where we open our gardens has meant I have had little time for socialising (v naughty) and I must address this.

Two of my indoor planted cucumber seeds have germinated (in less than a week) and I am hopeful - the bug zapper on the kitchen window-sill acts as a bottom-heat propagator and is excellent. None of the greenhouse squashes have started and just one sweetcorn from 36 seeds. Pesky mice! - Of course it might be too cold out there so I may do some swapping.

I do have some runner beans showing on the surface of the seed trays so we ill have some things. I might try some seven inch pots for runners ready for the plant stall, and I may make up some paper seed packets to sell in smaller quantities.

We took 3 giant builders bags of weeds to the dump yesterday and have another three to take today - that might be our only outing today! Poor DH, what a weekend. Still, his number two motorcycle passed its' MOT and just needs a new battery now.

Sounds like DH is longing to join you in retirement heaven, poor thing. Though opening your garden, even for charity, doesn't yet sound retired :)
