  • The Parish Council meeting sounds like Dibley. You’re doing so well with all the garden stuff though.

Dibley was the Parochial Church Council (chaired by the minister) - the Parish refers to the civic district and is much more dull (footpaths, dog poo bins and the like!) - it's the tier under the district authority and hopefully does stuff with minimal money. A paid administrator (Parish Clerk) and elected councillors.

Thanks @trix-a-belle - he enjoyed yesterday - he pruned and shaped four large shrubs with secateurs and then cleared up all debris - he made a neat job. Then he used steps and climbing ability to tidy up a holly tree with a wayward branch, which he chopped up and bagged too, and then DH got him using a hedge trimmer and he trimmed back a huge shrub, blocking an arch and spontaneously clipped a Weigela too. He's coming back today too. I sent him home with the ingredients to make a quick chicken casserole. Today I have everything crossed for him as he has an informal interview.

Annoyingly when I went to the doorstep for the milk this morning there was none, so I pinged off a note to the dairy asking for double on Thursday instead of a refund. When I fed the cat I found the milk already in the fridge! DH was still up when it was delivered in the early hours. Naturally no note was left to tell me...

Edge of the seat stuff for us yesterday as DS was called in for an informal interview after popping his CV and a covering letter I helped him write into a local doctor's surgery. He came round afterwards and felt quite positive (not necessarily a good thing, going by previous impressions). No more gardening yesterday as it officially piddled on and off all day. He will hear in the next day or two.

I sent DH off to get sugar (5k cane sugar for £3.50) from Sains yesterday with a list of other stuff. £56.25 in total added to the grocery bill. On the other side he received a refund from the Bay for goods sold as authentic but were knock-offs (and two sizes too small).

I TT 23.66 this morning (technically tomorrow, when both transactions clear).

  • Great news about DS's job.  I'm making up a batch of sugar syrup today to feed this afternoon.  We still have plenty of flowers and the weather is good but its starting to get colder.
