We are taking our beekeeping aspirations to the next level today. I secured a s/hand honey extractor last week and when collecting I asked why he was selling. The seller has developed a serious allergy and has to give up. I cheekily asked if he had any other bee related stuff he wanted to get rid of and he has a large colony, about 6 miles from us. So this morning we are meeting an experienced beekeeper at the seller's house and we will inspect for health and feasibility. Then all being well we will collect them tonight. I anticipate lots of preparatory work today, which might involve preparing another hive, although ours are different to the style he uses so not a straightforward fit. I was not prepared to buy them without a grownup checking them for health first. Fingers crossed all is OK.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

That sounds exciting. I know many beekeepers develop severe allergies. Which is what stopped OH wanting to keep bees.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Oh boy, what a night! DH taped the different layers of the hive so we could move it. The lady whose house we collected from (not the beekeeper) insisted we take the car right up to the hive to get it into the trailer and we managed that and strapping it into there for the journey home.
However, when we got back DH realised he had not taped the base to the brood box so we had bees out. He used his smoker to get them in and they were crawling rather than flying (as it was night) which was positive. Everything crossed that they like it here. We got into bed just before midnight and it was all a bit stressful but we were so hot at the end, showers immediately before bed. I have been out this morning but it has been raining and not sure if this/new location/gone but there is very little activity this morning. Feeling slightly anxious.
