Thanks TMV I tried not taping my toes yesterday and that is a mistake. I might give DH a pharmacy list for Monday when he is due to shop.
My windscreen cracked when we visited my friend for tea in her garden (no apparent reason but it was extremely hot and I put the air-con on coldest). 20 seconds after the air con kicked in it went bang and cracked. So up and dressed by 08.00 as per Autoglass texts. Came down at 07.30 ready to go and there is a text saying 09.45-12.45! Ho hum! It has taken 9 days for them to get the windscreen into stock. I believe this will be a Brexit thing going forward because the price of warehousing in the UK is so much more expensive than ordering as needed versus holding in stock. The current supply chain issues with goods from outside the UK in times of pandemic is likely to be made worse after January, when movements of goods is likely to be impacted by the end of the transition period.
As I have a new windscreen I have bitten the bullet and booked my car in for its annual service, asking them to re-gas the air con and replace the front windscreen wipers (both extra to the 3 year service plan I have already paid for).

Suffolk_lass said:Right well the lights plan in the van bathroom is currently being revised as plan A is too heavy. I have made my suggestions and he is best left to it now. I have finished sealing round the aluminium box that holds the tap gubbins and I have received a copper leaf gilding kit (to be honest, it looked quite straightforward watching Angela Strawbridge who was showing a fellow Chateau owner one wet February afternoon, so I thought I would have a go). We are using copper plumbing pipe elsewhere so it will be less out of place than the aluminium box and maybe a bit steam punk.I'm glad the van's going so well - sounds very good, and I'm loving the steampunk. I confess, Escape to the Chateau is something I watch whenever I can
though currently I'm wondering how all those chateau owners are getting on, all their events spaces are completely out of bounds, poor things
Your toe sounds like it *hurts* ... and, um, I can't resist the pun, I do apologise ... your windscreen is also in a world of painDo take care!

Been awol for a few days. Made a cheeky £250 OP to the fast disappearing mortgage which is now under £9k - it will go in October, for definite (probably
).
The bathroom progresses - the plumbing is done (fingers crossed it does not leak - we will test later today), the aluminium box with the tap gubbins in is now coated in copper leaf and will be lacquered today, tomorrow and Thursday, and I am promised that the rest of the S shaped hooks are on their way (the supplier sent me 5 instead of 20!). There is a blanking plate to put on two sides of the washbasin housing and a shelf to make (with steel bars to stop stuff falling off) and then just the floor, ceiling and toilet refresh to complete it. So much for buying a ready made van...
A quick check this morning confirms that neither of our annual travel insurance policies cover us for COVID. The cut off was 13th March (the day I had dated confirmation that I had renewed). Unfortunately the scheme changed to exclude it then and my renewal was 17th. All a bit academic as DH's renewal is this month and I'm not going without him.
In the garden, I've got to pick my blackcurrants but they have all been ripening at different times. I hope to make cordial so have just asked my Sis if she will share her recipe. I also need to dig the rest of our 2nd early potatoes as I've been given 40 more leek plants
My foot is not improving but I've found some gel pads - going to try one under ball of my foot and one under heel to see if I can walk my neighbour's dog as I'm really struggling with not getting enough exercise - very grumpy!
I think I might start shopping again as DH just does it so differently. I have already had a little rant over on the grocery challenge so won't detail it here but (sighs) we are just going through so much money getting not really what I wanted. Let me see what the position is next week.

Pouring with rain this morning but I need to get dressed and get out and water the thirsty plants. Having lifted some potatoes yesterday to make more room for leeks, I plunged in and lifted a trug full of shallots too. They are under cover to try and dry off the earth and outer skins. Not sure if I shall pickle them this year (do love pickled onions) or use them for cooking. I seem to have lost my mojo for cooking at the moment.
The tomatoes are producing half a dozen orange cherry tomatoes every day (sungold, an F1H) - they are like sweets. DH just keeps grazing on them.
Oh yes, I suggested we test the plumbing for the washbasin. Unfortunately at least four joints leaked and have had to be redone. Poor DH. Two days so far on what should be a 2 hour max job. The joys of an old motorhome.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I hope you can get some help with your foot, SL, that sounds so limiting for you
Not surprised you've lost your cooking mojo with all that you've got going on.

I think you're right about getting your foot sorted soonish. MIL has a foot injury that wasn't dealt with properly at the time and it's really limited her mobility in the last few years (depending on how much she can be bothered, granted) and I do worry about potential future deterioration.
The plumbing sounds frustrating!

Just catching up SL. Sorry to hear about the issues with your foot and hope you get in sorted soon.
Spookily I have been introduced to Escape to the Chateau in the last week and I am hooked. I was also wondering how they were all doing in the crisis.
At first I was really annoyed with Angel's faffing while !!!!!! did all the hard work but she gradually grew on me through the programme. They seem so happy but it is tellyland and there is ne'er a cross word with the kids !6
