    Hi,

What timescale are we talking about here ?

When was your last contact with the ombudsman ?

Reason I ask is timescales will apply to your complaint, if it's been years since you spoke to them, you may of left it too late.

I would first complain to Virgin and forward the letter that you received from the Ombudsman with this complaint.

If Virgin collected your phone, I would agree that the contact has been cancelled unless they replaced it with another.
  • The plot thickens I phoned virgin mobile yesterday to do a pleminary what do I do next to get this removed.

Anyway for an account that is reporting as a live account on my cremit file they could find no such account and no such reference to me owing them 600 pounds.

They've advised me to write to their credit file devision. But is there anything I need to know before wading get this off my credit file now letters?? Will doing this or putting a note of correction on my account make my credit score worse I am in the process of applying for a house rented so don't want to make it any worse than it is.

Not an issue. Landlords and letting agents don't get to see the lies and libel on credit files. They only get to know about CCJs and the like.
  • Virgin never replaced the phone. The phone wasn't the issue is was a technical issue on my account that meant I'd loose all my paid for minutes / data /texts onot a daily basis which would then try to charge hundreds for me for all my calls taking me over the credit limit and then cut me off daily. Daily I had to call them and get my account reinstated this went on for months despite the daily promises that they had now sorted it . Which is why I complained to the ombudsman

  • So do they see defaults on credit agreements? I lost a house a few months back based on my credit score. And I was like confused .com as only live accounts I've had since uni is my current bank account and phone contract and never have missed a payment on it. I'm now thinking this was why as I had excellent work and landlord refs

Tenant checks only reveal basic stuff (have a look at the so-called "comprehensive" report example), and they won't see if you're blacklisted as a result of defaults. Usually these checks are nothing to bother about:

For a mortgage, the provider will carry out a large-scale prying exercise into your finances, including hitting you up with multiple hard credit checks.

Trust me - this would impact a credit check done by a letting agent. I was one.

OP you need to get this either removed because they are wrong, or if you are certain it was over 6 years ago etc then you could point out they should have defaulted the account, in which case it would be about statute barred? And 6 years after the Default date it would drop off your credit file and thus not be a problem...

That doesn't stack up with the explanation given by Experian. How do they find out about a default? That info is on the credit files that are only available to the closed group customers of the CRAs.
