Hope the cleaning product shopping spree cheered you up and that tomorrow is a better day for you.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Hope you are feeling better today? I get the same urge to buy nice things and feel better but it doesn't actually work anymore. I bought some nice face oil (had a sample of sunday reilly artemis from space nk which set me off), and do a facial massage which cheers me up. When I am really tempted to buy more nice face stuff I go and inspect the (unopened) mountain of nice face stuff in my bedside drawers which sometimes helps. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks everyone, I do feel a bit better today
I was still a bit down in the dumps yesterday and I had a lot of errands to run which meant that I got absolutely drenched four times which made me !!!!ed off instead of depressed
I'm feeling a bit more philosophical today, yes it does suck that I'm stuck making ginormous debt repayments for at least another 2 and a half years but that time will pass and this debt is going down, even if it feels like it is the slowest process ever. Spending hundreds of pounds on my credit card won't make me feel better, not even in the short term because I feel immediately guilty about adding to my debt instead of reducing it.
I didn't end up buying cleaning products because of the rain (dubious excuse there) so I've got that to look forward to this weekend :rotfl:0 -

Can I add to your perfume suggestion doing the same for foundations - all the big brands carry quite generous samples and if you ask they are usually more than happy to give you a few, particularly if you are effusive in the first place. A few comments about sensitivity after wearing for a while, which I genuinely do suffer from, usually does the trick. And its worth asking even more if you are buying a full-size one.
This is a good tip! I will use that next time I am buying foundation0 -

Thank you so muchIt was partly the shock of seeing just how easily I could spend hundreds of pounds because I was feeling down in the dumps ... its easy to talk myself into "needing" to buy something (and if I'm buying it in white, why not buy the navy version as well? And I might as well add another top to bring it into the free delivery category) but looking at the total and then at my spreadsheet made me  xx

I've actually got a virtually unused bottle of Sunday Reilly Juno facial oil in my bathroom cabinet that I had completely forgotten about until now! I bought it over a year ago and haven't used it ... I've also got a vintage copy of the Carole Maggio "Facercise" book so I will start using it for facial massage
I got a SpaceNK voucher for my birthday recently, I haven't used it yet but I'm going to make an appointment to get some eye makeup tuition. Last time I did this they were really good, I explained what I wanted (an overhaul of my simple daily makeup routine) and they were excellent at showing me how to use one product for a few different things. I've been meaning to go back for a bit of tuition on how to do a more advanced look, and restock some of my basics. I like to time spending money in SpaceNK with an occasion when 'd like to have a free makeover0 -
That sounds like a good plan, makes the voucher more of an event rather than just money to spend. It will feel like it's got a bigger value.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)
