Personalised number plate 'L333 AHS' (leahs) to sell

Hi we are going to buy a car on friday and it has personalised number plates on it.
I would like to know how we go about selling the plates and getting the best price for it.

  • Are you sure the plate comes with the car sale ? In most cases the number plate is transfered onto the replacement vehicle, ie the next car that the person (selling the one that has the L333 plate on) buys.

Maybe it's not a personalised numberplate, with those numbers and digits it could just be a normal plate from an oldish L reg car. May still be worth selling though, have you tried googling, OP?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Kind of agree with this post - it's not really what you would call a personalised plate, too many 3's in it.

Try looking on ebay and in the cherished transfer sections of auto mags to get an idea of it's worth.

    Plato ;) Make £2018 in 2018 no. 37 - total = £1626.25/£2018 :j
  • Some fool would buy it I guess!
Though it will cost you 80 quid to take it off the car. Go check out the other fees the DVLA take (as if they don't get enough) first and see if its your worth while.
The previous owner probably thought the samne till they checked out the fees and thought "sod it, it can stay on the car..."
  • Og go looking in http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=558954 and see if Barry wants it...

Quite true and it's a nightmare getting plates swapped over on cars. When I bought my current car it had a personalised plate on it and I wanted my personalised plate putting on it.............the garage had a nightmare, glad I didn't have to deal with it.

How helpful & moneysaving is that comment.

Clearly you have a dislike for people who have personalised plates so stay clear of threads with are along these lines.

I don't get people who carry dogs & dress them in coats & glitter collars so I'll not be frequenting those threads.

  • I was speaking from a motor traders point of view and how hateful/tacky private number plates are to us.

First things first check the V5, it may be a non transferable registraion mark. If it is, it'll say so in the blue "special notes" section at the bottom of the front page
  • thanks for your replies I will be getting the plates with the car as I know the owner and she is moving to OZ and cant be bothered with selling them on. To put the old plates on and retain the l333 ahs one will cost £105.
I have had a quote from one of the websites for £700 net!
