Amex New application - Asking for ID and proof of address.

Hey guys - New to the thread.
So I applied for a Amex card and I received an email saying that they are pleased to say my application is going well and I just need to send in proof of ID and address to finalise my application. I have sent to documents requested and I'm curious if this means that I will be approved or declined? I'm hopeful from the way they worded the email but I'm still a little uncertain. Anyone else had this issue before?
thanks

I hope it goes alright and you get your card. My policy is that if I apply for a CC and they require identification documents I tell them to shove it. Previously there was no need for identification, and it's just more MLP. If you don't get accepted you should demand to know what they've done with copies of your identification documents. Require written confirmation from them that all copies have been destroyed.0

I hope so, The reason I decided to go with Amex is because of there generous credit limits and increases. I only sent them today so I will contact them in a couple of days time to see whats happening with my application. I'm going on holiday to New York next month so my fingers are crossed!!0

Wouldn't have thought they would ask for ID if they weren't going to give you the card. Documents are normally sent back to you once they've processed them. Thats what happens where i work (not AMEX)0

Lets hope that my time and excitement isn't for nothing! haha0

How do you expect them to verify your identity then? Call your mum and ask her? They surely couldn't use the CRA's as they are evil and should all be closed down, according to you. If you even had to go into a bank and discuss an application face to face you would still need to show identity documents.0 -
I haven't heard anything yet, I'm getting less hopeful as the days go on! any update on yours? When did you send off you documents?0

I got a letter about 5 days after making the app. I sent them the docs the same day. I didnt hear anything for about 5 days so I called them up and it turns out the proof of address I sent wasnt good enough they want a bank statement and I just sent them a bank letter thinking they only need proof of address. They told me over the phone that they have written to me so I guess the letter is still on its way in the mail somewhere Im just waiting for that then I will send them the new stuff. I also requested my bank to send me a bank statement because I had gone paperless on all my accounts. Hopefully the letter will come on Monday and hopefully my bank will send me a statement a few days after and then I can send them the new stuff.
I think you should call the new accounts team number up that they sent in the first e mail and select option 2(check status of application) then theyll just ask ref no and theyll tell you whats going on with it. Thats what I did anyway. I will keep you updated good luck I hope you get it.0 -
I applied with Amex 2 times in the past some 4-5 years ago and back then they just sent me the cant give you an instant decision e mail but after 5 days I got the declined letter in the mail so I hope this time is good news.
My sister applied for a Tesco credit card and they did the same with her refusal first time, then some time later she applied and got the letter asking for id, address docs and she got the card.
The only reason Im a bit worried is I applied with Capital One 4-5 years ago and they claimed instant decision etc and I got the letter asking me for proof of id and address I sent them everything and had my hopes up and they just sent my docs back with a declined letter after all that saying after careful consideration unfortunately we are unable to.0 -
I sent mine off on Thursday, I will call Monday and see what's going on, What card did you apply for?0
