...as you asked
This was my latest addition. About £900 in there! Added to some of this:
Like I say, ABOUT £1100, give or take. This time round it took me about 3 years to fill the bottle.
You could always replace that rug with:

Nice idea but I've only got about a tenners worth of copper... and what's wrong with my rug? It's a classic. Apparently0 -
Can I make a suggestion?
1 Don't go in on a Monday or a Friday!
2 Ask the branch for a suitable time to go in which will not be lunchtimes.
3 Make sure it is all bagged correctly.
4 Make a list of all denominations of bags making it easier for them to check.
5 If there is a queue be prepared for them to clear it first before they serve you.
6 If any of the above is a problem - split it up into 2 or 3 trips!
7 This is for future use - why not start saving fivers or tenners and getting rid of the change as you go along!!!!0 -

Alternatively, if you have a local shop they may be very pleased to have your change as otherwise they have to buy it from their bank at significant cost.. I 'launder' the change accrued by the tuckshop at work through our local shop - they are delighted to have freely acquired coinage and the guy running the tuckshop gets notes without having to queue at the bank. Everybody wins, and I get the occasional kitkat as commission.Save In 2018 #1090

I have no idea which banks as it always amazed my why people do this, that includes these silly coins saving 'clubs' at MSE.
Usually building societies/former building societies (e.g. Nationwide, Santander, Halifax) as the space in their safe is too limited. The bigger banks like HSBC, Lloyds and Barclays should be fine.
With you on the coin savings club. Always seemed completely daft to me.urs sinserly,

Some branches of Natwest have coin machines similar to the coin star machines you see in supermarkets. You chuck your coins in and it counts them and gives you a receipt to take to the counter to pay money in to your account.
You need an account with Natwest of course but may be an option and save on multiple trips to the bank0 -
Haha, that's why I want to take it to the rural branch, it'll be quieter there! Plus the parking. The last time I was in that branch the only member of staff visible had come out from behind the counter to see a visitor's, almost certainly not a customer, dog's paw
If there's hardly any staff and a couple of people come in right behind you, nobody will thank you. With a large branch, they've always got reserves they can call on.
When I used to take coin into my branch (around £600pw, which was about as much as I could carry), I had it all weighed and bagged up and all they had to do was bung each bag on the scales; I was done quicker than a granny making a single withdrawal. But make sure you've checked it all; they won't be happy if you've made a mistake, as they'll have to empty the bag and recount it. The people behind you will be even less happy.0
