No one has ramped up production so dramatically so quickly in history!0 -
CleanTechnica's claim of unique growth did not filter down to one specific region of the world.
I didn't write the article, and your comment was directed at me:I'm a bit surprised you've forgotten about them,Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Well, yes. I assumed you wouldn't share an article you knew to be false.0

Interesting article on Transport Evolved yesterday. I like this site as it's very balanced.
The suggestion is whether getting the price down by reducing battery size is a solution to the sub $20k EV. Pointing out that sub 100 mile EV's already work, and there is a lot of market for short range vehicles. Interesting food for thought. Going back to a cost reduction I suggested based on the TM3, then perhaps taking the $35k model (when it arrives), stripping out $5k in size and spec, $5k for smaller batts, and another $5k for cost reductions over the next 2-5yrs, then hopefully that'll be possible/reasonable?
If most, or just many, second cars are suitable for a switch to short range/cheaper EV's, then the market could be massive ..... and hopefully profitable.

There are already electric cars on the UK market <£20k... Renault Zoe, from £18,500 list, for a start... Although that is with battery leasing. Then there's the iOn/C-Zero/i-MiEV. The Smart ForTwo is pocket change above that line.0 -
$20k in the US is roughly entry-level Ford Focus money -- $18k there, £18k here - so we'll go with £1=$1, and £20k for this.

Interesting ...... so which of the above best meets your range requirements & importantly, have you bought one yet ? ....

And, no, I haven't bought one, because I choose not to buy new £20k cars, and because they do not meet my range requirements, as I think we've discussed a few times before...0 -

The article clearly mentions profitability as well. But I guess you were just too busy trying to post a contradictory comment as usual ...... such a waste of time!Mart. OK, so what do you think the European market price line is, if it's lower than a straight "new-Focus-list" equivalence to that US $20k?0
