  • Terrible service from Tonik. Since they upgraded their system in March, I have not been able to get a bill, submit meter readings etc. It has been over 2 months now with no solution in sight. I have now logged an official complaint with the ombudsman in the hope that they can resolve this.
If you are thinking of changing to Tonik, don't, I recommend that you consider an alternative supplier!!!

I actually for the first time have started to lose faith in the Money Saving Expert site when mentioning Tonik Energy as a switch option in the weekly emails and on the cheap energy club. Apart from a brief warning about "MSE seeing some billing issues of late" MSE obviously never read their own forum reviews (or Trustpilot / Twitter)
I am currently a Tonik customer, Tonik were good, but I agree with a lot of the comments on here that in 2020 they have had problems.

I wouldn't say I've lost faith in MSE or Martin. Mistakes are made. But yes it was Martin's Tonik shout out on his ITV show a fortnight ago which then led me to sign up after spotting what appeared to be a good deal from a seemingly reliable supplier on CEC. Then saw here what a turdshow they are and cancelled a few days later, and having a lot of trouble with them even doing that.

Just learned today that despite leaving them on the 2nd Jan to go with SoEnergy that they have continued to bill me and have today taken out £280 via direct debit with another bill of £300+ to come out on the 20th. They actually owed us after the switch and 3w ago didn't reply to my request for the credit back. On hold for an hour after an initial clueless individual answered the phone and gave up. Just sent a DM on Twitter and have cancelled the direct debit regardless...any legal avenue to chase this?

Ask the bank to make an immediate refund under the DD Guarantee of all the DDs that should not have been taken.

Thanks, Santander (I am moving away from them too soon!) had a huge delay on the phone so secure message sent instead requesting them to do exactly this

Santander are utterly hopeless, quite apart from the dismal rate cuts. You'll get an email asking you to use Chat because they've scrapped secure messaging, but they're daft enough to leave it on the site to waste everyone's time. And on some browsers the Chat slider only appears on the main website, not when you've logged on to online banking.  Ditch and switch PDQ !

I left Tonik a year ago and they have still not paid me the money they are sitting on. They just say Sorry they are having problems calculating my final bill!

Do not join Tonik! MSE need to stop recommending this company. I have switched away from them and they have over 700 credit in my account, which they won't refund. I've been chasing for months, no reply. I haven't had a bill since January. Appalling service. Avoid.

They are doing billing (and the rest) manually; some have had luck on twitter. After initial contact, DM them your closing electric/gas readings and date.
