o2 Broadband email no longer working

Options
Some time ago o2 announced that Sky were taking over the email accounts. That happened and I was able to log into my o2 account via the o2 website for some considerable time. That eventually stopped via the o2 site but I was still able to retrieve my o2 emails from my windows live mail account. I now log into the account with my correct but the correct password and username are coming back as failed so I have no way of seeing my o2 emails.

Anyone else had this problem ?

Why are you surprised that you can no longer access your old O2 email account. You were given plenty warning and therefore it is your problem if you did nothing! If emails are important it is up to you to store them locally yourself i.e. by using an email client.

You need to get your head out of the sand. Windows Live Mail is no longer supported and has not been since 2012.

If the O2 servers have now finally been shut down after plenty warning that this would happen, then no email client will allow you to view your emails now will it.!!!!!!!

Well it did allow me to receive my emails long after it was shut down so yes.

I have all my o2 emails stored in my Windows live mail (still very much alive and functioning (despite no longer being supported since 2012 as you say) account where I also receive my Gmail emails too. I can access all past o2 emails, it just doesn't come into the Live Mail anymore because it is no longer recognising my password and username (stated in the op)

    Impossible!

Sky did not take over the old O2 email accounts. You have had years to migrate onto an alternative email account before O2 closed their server.

The mail server was on an O2 IP address and was managed entirely by them and IT IS NOW NO MORE!

    Wrong.

The last email I received from my o2 account was on 17/12/2016.

Last I received was 20/12/16 mainly spam as I moved all my mail to another address a year ago but my o2 is still on my iPad.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

    That was last year.

Why can't you accept that the old O2 mail no longer exists!

First the web access was removed and now the server has been removed.

Why is that so difficult for you to understand? You knew that it would happen.

What happens when you ping the server? mail.o2.co.uk
