Perhaps the OP could give examples of other British businesses they use

Or British-made computers. Surely that's what they use?

There are loads of British businesses.

Sainsbury's, Morrison's, John Lewis, Debenhams (British but with overseas franchises and subsidiaries) for example.

Many British Businesses also operate overseas. Centrica for example. I don't think earning money overseas makes them any less British.

You could probably still exclusively deal with British companies if you wanted to.
You miss my point. The OP made the condition of 'wholly' British, to which I think you'd find it difficult, if not impossible, restricting your custom.

    Hi all

And by that I mean wholly British not just based in the UK.

I'm furious at my bank HSBC for saying they are going to relocate 1000 staff to Paris, so I'm looking for a 100% British bank to more to.

Thinking about Nationwide. ... Are there any others that are 100% British owned?

    Regards

You will not find any bank that is wholly owned by British shareholders.

HSBC are considering moving staff because they may be forced to. If the UK does not get passporting rights to transact in the EU then any job that involves EU transactions will have to be within the EU. This is not HSBC being anti UK. It is a reality. They will likely move a floor or two of staff to somewhere in the EU leaving their other staff in London or moving some to New York.

As it happens, the EU seems to be softening to allowing passporting rights to continue as part of the negotiations. Probably as the EU not having access to London could be highly damaging. So, these things are just contingency plans at the moment pending the negotiations.

You need to be a less Daily Express in your views and try and understand things more.

Nationwide is not a bank. It is a building society. I suspect they have a good proportion of foreign members.

Don't those companies just take off-the-shelf parts (made in other countries) and assble it for custmers?

So you'd have American-made CPUs, motherboards from Taiwan, Japanese-made capacitors and so on.

Just because a major bank decides to move some of their staff to another country due to the unfortunate Brexit, does not mean one should have a hissy-fit and boycott that bank. If one does boycott anything due to those reasons, then one is forced to boycott many many many other things (because many of them are unlikely to be "wholly British"), otherwise they are in danger of being branded a hypocrite.

Exactly. It depends on what you mean by 'wholly' British. Maybe John Lewis, it's 'owned' by its employees, and I think they are all at least UK residents. But 25% of Sainsbury's (for example) is owned by Qatar.

The ONS has some numbers that show that just half of all UK shares by value are held by the 'Rest of the World'. So precious little would be 'wholly' British if you went down that route.:)

Novatech (and presumably Zoostorm) build stuff using the same Chinese/Taiwanese made components every other !!!!!! does. Just because they do it in Portsmouth doesn't make them especially British.

Probably some nice British made abacuses OP could use, although his arms would probably get tired and his monitor probably isn't compatible.

This thread is hilarious has the OP checked their groceries to ensure it is made in Britain from British products. Do they change over the channel when non British content appears on their TV. Indeed is their TV a UK brand with fully UK components.......
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I think Yorkshire BS is generally better than Nationwide.

    For what products?
