Annoying pretend TalkTalk phone calls

Options
I'm a TalkTalk customer.
For the last couple of weeks I've been repeatedly getting phone calls from people pretending to be from TalkTalk.
I've tried various responses:
1) Told them I've talked to TalkTalk who advise I record their call, so if they give me a minute I'll turn on my recording device, they always hang up.
2) I hang up straight away.
3) Scream at them to stop bothering me and tell them to F*** Off.
Unfortunately none of these ploys seem to work and I'm still getting their calls.
Has anyone got any other suggestions on how to stop these annoying calls?

Do they show their number when calling you? If so you could block those specific numbers or if they don't show their number just block all calls that don't show their number? (If they call you on your mobile that's what I've done so people who don't show their number can't call me).

Many thanks for your prompt reply, they don't show their number and dialling 1471 doesn't seem to work.
I don't really want to block all calls that don't show their number unless I can't find another solution.

Are they calling you on your mobile? Sorry the only thing I can think of is to block hidden numbers or just don't pick up. Or next time they call you pick it up and put classical music on they'll get bored.

Many thanks for all your replies.
    They're calling on my landline.
I've previously on occasion had these calls and I've fobbed them off.
It now seems that they're getting more desperate and in the last 2 weeks have called me at least 8 times.
They don't seem to get the message this time.
Next time I'll just say hang on a minute I'll get my dad and just leave them on hold.

In the end you may just have to get a call screening system such as the BT8500. Stops almost all scam calls.
  • I've had a few of these calls in the past. They seemed to begin after talktalk got hacked. The biggest give away was I had left talktalk and changed ISP. Fortunately for me I had time on my hands so I just played along and wound them up. Rather than be rude and tell them where to go, you may want to try what my Nana use to do when she received nusience calls in the 70's. Keep a referee's style whistle by the phone and when "talktalk" phone, give them a good old blast of the whistle.....

I was getting a lot of nuisance calls. Despite saying I do not take unsolicited calls they kept coming. I got the BT8600 telephones at Christmas and this has stopped all nuisance calls. What a relief!
