Citric acid works, put a few spoonfuls down the toilet, leave it overnight.
Same principle when people suggest using a bottle of coca cola, the citric acid in it dissolves limescale
I use it for the toilets and the kettle and it's cheaper than descaler.
You are one fruit short of a loop if you think the limescale is coming from your body.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
We need to get straight what it is/was first of all.
Some say limescale, others say urea. How can I know?
If ppl are saying urine is acid and that would get rid of limescale doesnt that prove it wasnt limescale?
Regarding adding bricks or flush savers I cant (easily) do that. the toilets are sealed underneath huge marble slabs. I can get into them I guess if I really needed.
I am paranoid about leaving any urine in there now but also feel bad for 'wasting' water! so i am feeling bad either way.
Gotta get this dilemma straight so I feel more confident one way or the other.
I do certainly prefer seeing a clean toilet to being greeted by that oily deep orange substance. but then I am a penny pincher so priorities priorities.

Tell me you didn't save water and washed the spoon afterwards? lol
In all seriousness, you need something acidic to remove it if its scale, if you want cheap then http://www.clean4less.co.uk/stc-acidic-toilet-and-washroom-cleaner-1l.html?gclid=CLL8xoTC2NECFRS6GwodbtAOhQSome people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0 -
I have removed it days ago. I am asking best prevention methods now.
If it costs a few pence per flush that is gonna be an extra £100-200 per year the amount I go.0 -
If you go 27 times a day, you've probably got more pressing concerns.0

I already said I go alot and always have. As I said about once every half hour.0

Hmmm...I read as far as:Baking soda contains acids and sodium bicarbonate.
Baking SODA does not contain acids, it is sodium bicarbonate (the picture they used even confirms this). Baking POWDER on the other hand is made up of sodium bicarbonate and a weak acid, such as tartaric acid.
In the toilet scenario, baking soda might help dissolve acidic salts, while the component parts of baking powder would simply react with each other, foam slightly and have no effect on anything.0 -

Can I just check that you are definitely on a metered water supply? I've seen threads like this before that can go on for days before it turns out that the OP's water is not metered and there is no cost/benefit to be had by reducing consumption.0 -
