Well there's not a lot happening over here at the moment. Second lock down hasn't really changed the way we've been living for most of the year and work continues which I'm glad for. I'm waiting to see if I get redeployed again as numbers are jumping rapidly in the area where my job is but so far still carrying on at home.
Money wise we're chugging along quite well, although I did go a bit crazy and order three presents to myself for ChristmasIn my defence, 25% of the purchase price for two of the the items has been donated to Make a Wish so I feel slightly better about things. Speaking of Christmas, we have all the presents sorted and I've planned what food we need to get. To be honest it's going to be a lot cheaper this year as I won't have to organise two buffets - we usually have all our friend's over the weekend before Christmas and then my in laws come over on Christmas Eve. Does mean we'll have to fend for ourselves between Christmas and New Year rather than relying on my parents and in-laws feeding us when we stay with them, but to be honest we'll have plenty of leftovers of our own to work through anyway.
Health wise my mental health has been taking a bit of a bashing again the last couple of weeks to the point where I'm not sleeping very well right now. I'm really lucky that I have a very understanding manager and not a massive workload so he's just letting me work when I feel I can and as long as I hit my deadlines then he's happy. So different from where I was a year ago. I have managed to finish the first week of Couch 2 5K and I'm really pleased with how it's gone and determined to continue. I wanted to get into running 5K's this year and even signed up for Parkrun but never followed through with it. Now I'm hoping to roll that resolution over into next year.
Right coffee break is over and I need to get on with a couple more bits for work and then it's time to make some kimchi - random I know but I managed to find the right cabbage at the weekend and we've run out so that's the plan for tonight.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20172 -
Well done on the C25K @ruby_eskimo. I'm hoping that I'll be able to start again sometime. Just need to see if the yoga sorts out my hip issue first.
Take good care of yourself. I have a friend who swears by £p$om $alt$ baths for sleep issues.

Well looks like I spoke too soon - managed 2 weeks of C25K and then my left ankle started grumping - specifically the tendons from the top of my foot into the ankle along with some impingement on the joint! I thought it was all too good to be true, that I was actually enjoying "running" and seeing improvements each time I went out. Oh well, it's been rested for almost a week now and feels a lot better - going to test it with a walk to the GP's this afternoon to request a prescription for DH.
Over the weekend I managed to get most of our food for Christmas which is now taking up all the space I'd made in the freezer. Feeling a lot more relaxed now and know that all I need to pick up closer to the time are fresh veg and cream for the pudding which should be fairly easy to come by. Have a massive bag of snacks as well which should keep us going for a while if I don't stress eat my way through them all!
DH spent the weekend redecorating our 3rd bedroom which we use as a dressing room - basically it has our wardrobes, a small chest of drawers and an IKEA Kallax unit that has bins in it for jumpers etc. He just painted the whole thing white with leftover emulsion that we already had and it looks so much brighter (previously there was one wall that was a really dark purple...) It did mean that I had to empty all my clothes out and took the opportunity to sort through them. I realised that a lot of my basics were really worn i.e. most of my t-shirts and vest tops had holes or were totally stretched out beyond recognition. So they've been sent to the big donation pile in the sky and I took advantage of the Oasis sale plus and extra 15% off for being an NHS worker and replaced all my basic vest tops and t-shirts plus got a couple of light weight jumpers. After all the discounts I managed to save about 55% overall so very pleased with that. But that's it, I'm all shopped out for the rest of the year. Well apart from the one Christmas present I still need to get and get in the post next week.
Money wise, it was pay day yesterday and I'm waiting till next week to do a full update when I know how much I need to round off of the mortgage once the standard payments have cleared.

Well I made an effort for work today - swanning around the house in a maxi dress and cardigan and a little bit of makeup. Shame I feel like rubbish otherwise! My ankle appears to be healing well but now I'm having issues with my teeth
About 2 years ago I had to have a root canal on one of my bottom front teeth as I was getting recurrent infections due to an injury to my jaw when I was a kid (a boy at school kicked me in the jaw and knocked my baby teeth out). While I can't see any swelling, it certainly feels the same as when I was getting infections before so I called the dentist today and have a telephone appointment tomorrow morning. Had to enlist DH to help me take a photo to send to the surgery and while it doesn't look like anything is going on I'm hoping they will at least give me a prescription for some antibiotics just in case, until they can actually get me a face to face appointment in a couple of weeks.
Despite that we spent the weekend deep cleaning the house ready for Christmas. Still have to mop the floor in the living room but will do that tomorrow before we put the tree up as we have to move furniture around anyway to fit the thing in! Also realised we have 4 advent calendars this year between the two of us. Bought myself a Lindt one as an upgrade from the usual cadbury's dairy milk and then got a Nespresso one on offer as I had leftover credit to use up with them which was enough. But my parents went a little crazy and sent us a Godiva chocolate one which I'll have to eat most of as DH only likes the white chocolate plus a tea selection one which he isn't crazy about either!
Money wise I've managed to add some more into the EF as DH sent me the tax rebate that he got from registering that he's working at home now - must remember to do this myself as it's not going to change any time soon for me I think. Also worked out that we should be hitting most of our money goals by the end of the financial year if we continue to save at the rate we have been. Just need to try and translate that to paying more off the mortgage as well!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20173 -
