I got a price match from JL for my panasonic TV. They matched richersounds. I only wanted it from JL cos of the warranty.

The OH sent an email and we got a letter through the post bout 3 days later!

    Good service I though.

  • I've had several excellent price matches from John Lewis, including a vaccuum cleaner and a digital TV, using prices from Empire Direct, who have a physical store as well as dealing on the Internet. JL had to match as the ED store was near one of their branches. Not sure if the loophole has been closed now, though.

This week the Southampton branch mailed a light fitting (only £10 in the sale) to my door, free of charge, as it was deleted from stock in the London branches.
    Best service anywhere!

Same here. They must hate Richer Sounds. Anyone managed to get free delivery on a Richer Sounds price match? Won't fit in my saloon car.

    What offer?
A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent,
the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.

If you dont like the price JL are selling it for go elsewhere. They can charge you whatever you like (within reasons).

I've had no problems with JL had 2 plasma Tv's PM with them all over the phone and via email.

We DID go elsewhere (as per the post). I also would agree that any retailer can charge whatever price they want and then it's down to whether the customer wants to pay that price or not.
However I disagree with a company trading off a statement that they are "Never Knowingly Undersold" when quite clearly that is NOT the case ! (All above posts are commenting on how they get John Lewis to match prices from other CHEAPER shops and the same shops by all accounts, so surely they are therefore by definition being "Knowingly Undersold" ?)

I spoke with the delivery guy (who works directly for the company that manufacture the cooker) and he confirmed that all "stockists" act as agents just taking the order from the client and ringing it through to Falcon. Falcon then take over the order (in terms of making the product and delivering it) so the "stockists" just relays the order and takes their cut.
Yet JL want £600 more profit for that 30 second phone call than MOST other retailers and you can't see irony in the "Never Knowingly Undersold" slogan ????
