John Lewis price matching on TV's

Does anyone have any experience of getting john Lewis to price match. Looking to buy TV, price in local John Lewis £1249, price from digitech electronics online is £835. I know that JL do not match online prices but company has a shop
Digitech Electronics
69 High Street, Hounslow,
Middlesex
TW3 1RB
This is about 11 miles from me would they match price that shop offers, I'm hoping it may be similar to inernet price, waiting for confirmation from Digitech confirming shop price.
Would I still get 5 year warranty JL offer as standard if digitech do not offer it or do they take a warranty price into the equation when working out price match cost.
Thanks

No just take cost of set. AV Forums has an excellent thread on John Lewis.

They will match with any retailer anywhere in UK so as long as it has a shop. If they say it is too far away, order it at the closest John Lewis to the shop you are asking them to match with, and get it delivered to your home free. John Lewis do the 5 year guarantee as standard on all tellys. The policy is called "never knowingly undersold".0

Not completely accurate. It needs to be in stock, on display, with the price also clearly displayed. It does cut down your choice of price matching possibilities considerably.
But do check the JL price matching section in either the LCD or Plasma sections of avforums0 -

This is the latest page of a very long thread called john Lewis pricematch table, hope it helps0 -
Just visit the television department fo your local store and tell an assistant who will write it all down, details of the shop offering lower price etc. JL will phone other store to check price match and you will then get a call back from JL confirming they will match competitive price, with 5 year warranty as well of course. The store doesn't need to be close by, that only applies if you want JL to give you a price to match another JL store price.0

I also tried precisely the same thing as the OP recently (about 1 month ago) with a Falcon range cooker. JL price was £3200 whereas i could get it from an alternative supplier (web site but had a physical shop also) for £2600.
JL were not prepared to price match because it was an item that THEY (ie JL) did not hold in stock !!!
The promise is not worth the paper it is written on an is merely a marketting gimmick to lull the less financially savvy in to a false sense of security where they assume they must be getting the best price as JL will never knowingly be undersold. They are OFTEN not the cheapest but leave you to do the leg work in the hope that you wont !!!! (and in my case when I did they dont honour their promise) :mad:0 -

Hey come on!! The idea surely is that if you were going to buy an item from JL (generally a good idea in view of their customer service, knowledgeable staff, long warranty etc) then if it is available from another retailer more cheaply, they will match the competition's price so you don't miss out by staying with JL. If it isn't in stock at JL you wouldn't have been buying it from them anyway.
I have always been very satisfied with their price matching, most recently a Panasonic HD DVD recorder where they dropped their price by £150 to match a Richer Sounds deal.0
