Cathay just changed flight destination??

Hi,

We have booked flights couple months ago to go Manchester - Hong Kong return in April.
They just sent us an email that they have changed the return flight to drop us off at Gatwick. And that is it.
Surely they cannot just deposit us 300 miles from where we bought the flights for???

What can we do? Under absolutely no circumstances do we want to fly to Gatwick. This completely changes the game. We will have to somehow get from Gatwick home.

It's a significant change so I'm pretty sure that you would be entitled to a full refund, but if they aren't offering either an onward flight to Manchester or a different direct flight from HK to Manchester there may not be anything you can do to force them to provide it. Personally rather than posting on here I'd have been on the phone to them to find out what's going on.

I am in a queue for the last 15 minutes, cannot get to speak to anyone.

    Best airline my !!!!

Problem is we are going to a wedding and it is quite close now, so the prices will be very different!
    They completely screwed us over.

I wanted to know what are my rights really before I get to speak to them.

You have a contract with them for them to get you to Manchester....so they have to get you to Manchester.
Don't get mad about it. Just make sure that they pay for you to get to Manchester.

    Hi,

    Thank you everyone.

After 20 minutes on hold I have managed to get through and spoke to a nice lady that amended the flights.
Unfortunately we are still flying through London, but end up in Manchester. It is adding extra 2 hours on the flight time, but at least we will end up where we are supposed to.
Trying to get flights for similar price now would be a pain, and not sure would get any better result, as no one else does Hong Kong Manchester direct so there would always be a change.

I couldn't believe that they could just deposit us somewhere else then we bought for just like that. If I wanted to fly to London, I would have bought flight to London.

How are they getting you from Gatwick to Heathrow?

Different flight from Hong Kong altogether.

    Hong Kong-Heathrow. then Heathrow-Manchester.

No flights to Manchester from Gatwick.

Did you select your seats whilst on the phone? Always a good time to organise those little things...during the call.
