WE got a good duvet earlier this year and used it last night for the first time. Its quite heavy.
I felt ill last night feeling sick and asthmatic I am wondering if this is due to the duvet because I felt much better when I went downstairs and slept on the sofa for a few hours apart from a stiff arm0 -

Hello Poppycat
What sort of duvet is it, natural or synthetic?
Hello Andrewmoorcroft
I haven't been in touch with Domestics yet to ask about JL returns. I am busy with my baby grandson age 4 months :j (and parents) from Australia and I want to make the most of them for the 2 weeks they are here, then I will tackle my duvet problem.
I was looking on the JL website to see what the guarantee period was for the duvets, some other places give a 10 year one but no mention of that on JL.0 -
I phoned domestiks on Thursday but they had no duvets in stock they suggested I try phoning again next week because they don not have them that often so you need to keep checking.0

We just paid £22 for a double, "step," duvet at Tchibo, and it's absolutely brilliant, and that's from two people who have spent a lifetime sleeping under duvets of one sort or another. It's actually two thinner duvets stiched together, which apparently confers some sort of advantage. Whatever the science, it's very light, very soft, and of course warm.
Just reinforces my theories about JL. They have their strengths, in customer service, price matching, etc., but basically they deal in ordinary items with vastly over-inflated prices. It seems to work, though, my local JL is heaving every day, car park full of Mercs, BMW's, Lexus, huge four wheel drives, etc. Just goes to show, fawning subservience works every time. Never mind the quality, how good do they make me feel.0 -
Hello Shown 73
Well, after just looking at some other websites, I think you could possibly be right about JL, my favourite shop,:o though I do not own and never will own a bmw or any other posh car. Unless lotto comes up. :rotfl:
Apparently down has no quills, so, how is my "pure down" filling poking through the downproof cover? pure goose down is described as being like the fluffy seed head of a dandelion. I will have to question this when I talk to them about mine and I will have to compare what is poking out of my duvet with the picture of what down is supposed to look like.
Also apparently, there is no such thing as Siberian goose down, geese can't live in Siberia as it is too cold and the ones that do live there for part of the year are not allowed to be harvested, so what is JL putting in their " siberian goose down" duvets?
Also, on another item, they have a photo frame in the JL shop for £5 identical to the one in the pound shop, guess how much???? I think I might have to change my allegience.0 -
Well, John Lewis collected the duvet this week so that they could inspect it. I had a phone call this evening from them and they asked if I would like a replacement. So that is good customer service.
They said they could not understand why this was happening and they had never known it happen before.
I am happy to be having it replaced because it is the best duvet I have ever had :j0 -

Once i was in a restaurant and complained that my chips were soggy and bitty. The waiter explained to me that they were the same chips that everyone else had eaten, with no complaints. I responded with "that explains why they appear chewed up then". It completely went over his head which probably explains why he is a waiter in a restaurant!Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. lOl :rotfl:.
I agree with you and you take what they say with a pinch of salt I suppose when they say that ( especially with the chips )
I was just pleased to have a replacement duvet though, it feels much fuller than the last one too, a couple of the panels were a bit flat in the other one.
I had to complain in a restaurant the other evening, the sticky toffee pudding was like rubber and it cost £4.50. They eventually knocked it off the bill. I am always polite though, when complaining.0
