Could you please tell me where this shop is in Birmingham please, I am going to buy one of these and the prices from John Lewis are astronomical.
Read post 4 and type into www.yell.com
Call them before you go to make sure they have one! Its close to Cadbury's, Bournville - ummm chocolate! It's a few minutes walk from Bournville train station. The train from birmingham would be traveling in the direction of redditch/longbridge. Alternatively catch a 45 or 47 bus from brum which goes down the pershore rd.

    Thank you
  • I recently bought fabulous pillows from this store, mail order/customer service was excellent and they were very fast. http://www.duvetandpillowwarehouse.co.uk

I may buy a duvet, not quite sure yet.....considering an electric duvet (!)
Today, my BEST is good enough.

Thank you christabell, I have made a note of the website, it looks really good and the 10 year guarantee is excellent. :T The only thing is I note that the Hungarian goose down duvet is partly made up of goose feather, the one I bought at John Lewis was 100% goose down and that is apparantly why it is so light and warm and more expensive.
However, as you will have read in my post the downproof cover is proving to be not so down proof! I don't know how long the guarantee is with John Lewis, I might just check.

PS. What sort of pillows did you get, I like quite a firm one not squishy.

I have a JL goose down duvet with (luckily) no problems.

My Mum has one from these people:

Just as good as my JL one, and cheaper. Their service was excellent.

p.s. I wonder who buys the pure eiderdown ones???

Surely a 13.5 Tog Duvet is the same warmth wether it costs £10 or £200?

I didn't buy my duvet just for the warmth: it's light and fluffy and much nicer to sleep under than the man-made fibre one it replaced.

There is a very big difference between pure down and a synthetic duvet, you get the warmth without the weight and it is like sleeping under a cloud, there is just no comparison and I have had both types, also, because it seems to fold around you, everywhere it touches it keeps you warm. However some people like to feel weight on them so in that case a synthetic one is for them.

Debbie42, I looked at that website and their 100% pure snow goose down is still cheaper than JL. As for the eiderdown:eek: I haven't even told my husband what ours cost, he would have apoplexy:rotfl: whatever that is:o .

John Lewis maufacture their own goose down duvets in Lancashire, yet they don't appear to give the 10 year guarantee that some others do.

When you shake yours do you get lots of fluff flying about?

No: I get the odd bit of down, but nothing of any significance.
