Sounds like you had a lovely weekend! We were in Notts on Saturday too and went with friends to Annies burger shack- it was delicious but huge portions. I had the Johnny Vegas burger: a burger with two black pudding slices, toffee apple butter, American bacon and with a Guinness mini donut stuck to the top! I couldnt eat it all but it was so fun there- Id totally recommend (plus all options can be made veggie or vegan!)
Bad news on the retainer front! Sounds painful, I still use some dental wax with the braces but tend to remove it to eat and then use some fresh wax after brushing. Hope they manage to sort it tomorrow for you.
How long have you had it in?
With your Zizzi vouchers- do make sure you tell them before you order- we had a voucher each and mentioned wed be using it but at the end she told us she couldnt split our bill to each use a voucher- then cheekily said if we had told her before she could have done it. She removed the starter from our bill to make up for it (also they brought gf the wrong pizza initially so we had shared my pasta until her pizza arrived!)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Happy days! It's pay day today so I have done the pay day money shuffle as KK calls it
I had £150 left over from last month and rather than leave it in my account, I decided to put it into my savings. I normally leave excess in my account in case of larger than expected bills etc. but I figure that I will feel more on a budget without the extra safety net and be less inclined to spend.
My retainer has been glued back on, it's not right and will have to be addressed, but for now it's not catching or poking me.It has given me time to look into my options.
The builder of the house we are buying has already been in touch with our seller to grant retrospective approval for the mini conservatory / large bay window that she had put on the kitchen. That's one big tick off our list as we thought this would take a long time for DWH to sort out.
I've been really rubbish with the Bay recently. I really need to sort out what I don't want to keep and getting it on there to hopefully earn some more money for the move. I think that because we are having packing included it's taken pressure off to declutter, which doesn't make sense because we'll still have to unpack and store it at the other end, so I'm going to try and be motivated to list some more items this week. DH is away in Norfolk tonight so I'm trying to get a bit done, and it means we save some money as he will have his meal paid for and I can use up some stuff that he doesn't like.Mortgage: Mar 2018 -£300,000 / Jul 2021 -£255,000 / Oct 2024 -£172,835 (1.27% Interest until Feb 2027)

Well, it is cold and dreary in Yorkshire today, but that won't stop me from smiling. We finally have an exchange and completion date for our purchase
We've already signed the contract for the sale of our house and the solicitor will exchange it with the buyers' solicitor on Monday. It's feeling very real now! I think that will finally calm the bottom of the chain. There are two outstanding queries on the purchase. Something to do with a document that was referred to in the local search (planning I think) and insurance for some old mining leases on the property. The buyer's solicitor is looking into both issues, but we have no date of when the council might get back to him regarding the planning. Unless the solicitor came back and said this was earth-shattering, we're comfortable to exchange on the new house as well. I know that nothing's done until it's signed but I finally am starting to feel like this will all go ahead
The removal company is now booked and I have the number of a cleaner to give the house a deep clean, so things are progressing. I have to ring Virgin to cancel their services and have a look at signing up to a company for when we move to the new house. I'm not sure what will happen about our gas & electricity as our contract with them runs out after we've moved so I don't know if I should renew with them now (they're still the cheapest) or tell them I'm moving and renew after the move. I'll give them a ring to find out.
This weekend will be a bit spendy. We have firends coming up tomorrow to celebrate their birthdays (twins) so we need to get cards and presents tonight, then tomorrow evening we're eating at a local steak restaurant, which is a bit pricey. FIL is coming on Sunday to help with some jobs in prep for the move so we will be taking the in-laws out for a meal on Sunday to thank them. I'mm be pulling tight on those purse strings next week to balance it out
I've been paid my £40 from OnePoll too - happy days! My new balance is currently at £8.90 so I feel like I'm breezing through it this time. The new payment threshold really has made a big difference.Mortgage: Mar 2018 -£300,000 / Jul 2021 -£255,000 / Oct 2024 -£172,835 (1.27% Interest until Feb 2027)
