  • Unfortunately our fridge-freezer seems to given up the ghost. Things don't seem to be lasting as long and it doesn't seem as cool. For now we're using the spare fridge-freezer as much as possible and using up food from the freezer in the dodgy one. That's helping with cooking more and eating out less but the fridge-freezer expense is one we could do without. I'm hoping we can make do with the smaller spare one until Black Friday and maybe get a deal on one.

I'm also working through our pantry so I can replace some of the older tins and packets. I found some beans that were slightly out of date so I'm happy for the grown ups to use those ones and the kids use the new ones. I've found that looking through the pantry for something to use beforehand then tailoring the meal round it is helping, which is fairly obvious, but nothing something I've made time for before so I'm happy it's progress.

Does anyone know how to update the signature on here? I keep looking in the profile bit but haven't been able to find it yet.

I do a combination of vinted and eBay and giving stuff away to try and clear the clutter! Olio is useful if you want people to collect especially some bigger items. Wishing you luck with it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my diary and your lovely comment. We are so lucky to have the little poppets and they really have made us a family  <3

I have some slightly out of date tins (only a couple of months... I would risk it but not with the kids) that I shared to my neighbourhood food share facebook site. I initially had a few people saying they'd be interested but so far no takers. I'll have a look at Olio and Freecycle and see if anyone is interested. Seems a shame to tip them but sadly I hadn't realised we had missed a box of food from when we were sorting the bedrooms and kitchen to get ready for the kids' arrival. Hopefully someone can make use of them.

Been cooking so much more. I have found that sorting out the pantry and freezer has made it so much easier to meal prep and is inspiring me to cook more. The kids are happy to eat it (especially the boy, I suspect a growth spurt) so I'm happy to make it. On Monday we had spag bol with loads left so yesterday I made a lasagne with the leftovers. It was tasty and so quick and easy :)

  • Running down the freezer and so far we have used the ingredients for fish finger sandwiches (lovely comforting lunch), chilli con carne (DS loved it but DD wasn't impressed), fajitas (both kids loved them so will definitely do that again) and today I'm making a chicken curry using some Mayflower curry powder that's been recommended to me.

I've just discovered that I can get regular free coffees from Costa using my Octopus energy app, so that will make a nice walk out with DS into town.

I've just bought a few items of clothes as I've lost quite a bit of weight since getting the kids and my jeans were hanging off me! I've decided I don't need to buy many as I end up rotating a few different items straight from the dryer usually! I've now got LOADS to sell on Vinted so when DS starts nursery 2 days a week from mid-November, that's the first job on the list. It'll clear lots of space and hopefully bring in a bit of money too.
