    As your tariff ends 14th Feb, you cannot incur early exit fees now (which hopefully you have been informed of by the supplier)

    Of course, if you agree to a new tariff then early exit fees may apply to that - but if that situation does develop with Eon, simply transfer to their standard variable tariff (which never has early exit fees) and switch from that :)

    Eon do not charge early exit fees when transferring from one of their tariffs to another of their tariffs.

    Sure - yeh. I've already scheduled a switch to their v21 fixed, just to cover myself if things went up during Jan.

    My question was purely to make sure E.on hadn't introduced exit fees if leaving to a new tariff of theirs in the last 12 months.

    I'm optimistic we'll see a collective tariff in the next few weeks that'll be cheaper still.

    5.3M customers when I last looked with c.70% still on the standard variable tariff having never switched. If 100K took up the last collective switch, then I doubt that grumbles from about 2% of the customer base is really going to have that much effect on Corporate thinking/pricing. It needs a fair proportion of the SVR customers to move to give management any reason for concern imho.

    That said, it does give poor old Malc and Helena continued bad days at the office.

    Ohhh, this is just cheap enough for me (with elec only) to make it not worth switching to any of the other fixed priced tariffs available when my fixed tariff runs out on the 14th Feb.

    Just to confirm Malc/Helen: Do exit fees still only count if you leave eon, not switch to another tariff you have? (I'm still optimistic you'll end up winning one of the collective auctions in the next few weeks!)

    Already some great advice on here razord. Thanks all.

    Just to confirm, we don't charge exit fees when going from one of our tariffs to another. They only apply when changing supplier and then if outside the Price Protection window (open 49 calendar days before a fixed tariff end date until 20 working days after).

    Glad the Saver Fixed 1 Year version 5 tariff released today is of interest. The electricity is cheaper than version 4 in all regions.

    Hope this helps razord. You know where I am if you need any more advice. Happy to help.

    Good advice footyguy. Our Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff is also free of exit fees and could be used for a similar purpose. It's a tad cheaper than the standard Energy Plan.

    E.ON Fixed 1 year v5
    Day 17.136p per kWh
    Night 7.266p per kWh
    Standing charge
    16.422p per day

    Scottish Power Online Fixed Saver March 2018 v2
    Day 13.546p per kWh
    Night 5.446p per kWh
    Standing charge
    32.88p per day

    1 year's charges, given my average usage:

    £1561.10 (E.ON) vs £1262.02 (Scottish Power)

    E.ON is 24% (£299.08/year) more expensive than Scottish Power for me.

    Extra cost of staying with E.ON: £24.92 per month.

    I don't have gas. My electricity usage is relatively high. These electricity unit rates are very uncompetitive. Scottish Power have already advised me that they are contacting E.ON to switch me over. I have never switched before.

    Ouch that's more than double what I am paying, but then I have gas. I assume the SP tariff is the cheapest for you??

    It depends a lot of your circumstances and location though. For me, in the SWEB region, with a standard meter, they're the cheapest of the major suppliers for electricity, and only £12 more expensive a year than the cheapest fix from a small (poorly rated) company.

    I would not lke to state categorically that SP is cheapest for me, but it is what the comparison sites are showing as cheapest.

    If I were on gas + electricity, rather than just electricity, perhaps the arithmetic would favour a different supplier.

    I'm not superconvinced these calculations are correct, but I have produced the following: (electricity, economy 7, one region):

    £200.000 (SP), £161.127-£166.660 (E.ON) -> -19.44% to -16.67%
    £300.000 (SP), £287.629-£300.079 (E.ON) -> -4.12% to +0.03%
    £400.000 (SP), £414.132-£433.498 (E.ON) -> +3.53% to +8.37%
    £500.000 (SP), £540.634-£566.917 (E.ON) -> +8.13% to +13.38%
    £600.000 (SP), £667.136-£700.336 (E.ON) -> +11.19% to +16.72%
    £700.000 (SP), £793.638-£833.755 (E.ON) -> +13.38% to +19.11%
    £800.000 (SP), £920.141-£967.174 (E.ON) -> +15.02% to +20.90%
    £900.000 (SP), £1046.643-£1100.593 (E.ON) -> +16.29% to +22.29%
    £1000.000 (SP), £1173.145-£1234.012 (E.ON) -> +17.31% to +23.40%
    £1100.000 (SP), £1299.648-£1367.431 (E.ON) -> +18.15% to +24.31%
    £1200.000 (SP), £1426.150-£1500.850 (E.ON) -> +18.85% to +25.07%
    £1300.000 (SP), £1552.652-£1634.269 (E.ON) -> +19.43% to +25.71%
    £1400.000 (SP), £1679.154-£1767.688 (E.ON) -> +19.94% to +26.26%
    £1500.000 (SP), £1805.657-£1901.107 (E.ON) -> +20.38% to +26.74%
    £1600.000 (SP), £1932.159-£2034.526 (E.ON) -> +20.76% to +27.16%
    £1700.000 (SP), £2058.661-£2167.945 (E.ON) -> +21.10% to +27.53%
    £1800.000 (SP), £2185.164-£2301.364 (E.ON) -> +21.40% to +27.85%

    In each row above the left value is a total cost of electricity used with Scottish Power. That is followed by a cost range that would apply on the E.ON tariff. It's a range because the exact difference between SP and E.ON depends on the mix of day and night units used.

    As you can see, E.ON's tariffs are relatively punitive for higher electricity usage. It's only for lower usage that the lower standing charge outweighs the large per unit charges.

    My fix with E-on is due to end in March, it has been a very competitive tariff for the last year, so I expected an increase in my prices.

    Do they really think people will sign up for such a large price hike? Doing comparisons I can save £135 by switching.
