    Quick question (I hope)

I have an old 7250i that I am trying to unlock. However I can't enter any codes.

When there is no SIM in (which I have assumed is the state it needs to be in to unlock), it states "insert Sim card" on the screen but the keys are all locked .. cannot enter anything

if I put an O2, T-Mibile or Vodafone sim in I get "phone restricted" in the main screen ... then also "undo" in the bottom right .... but again all keys appear to be locked and I cannot enter anything.

Clearly I am doing something wrong and am hoping it is an obvious answer ??? an additional problem is that I am uncertain which network the phone was locked to - i know it was not O2, Vodafone or T-Mobile, and am hoping to try an Orange SIM later today if I can find someone on that network!

So maybe someone can answer the following :-

    # For the 7250i, do I need to have a sim in or no sim in order to carry out the unlock?

    # If SIM in, does it have to be a SIM from the original network

    # If no sim, then how do I unlock the keypad to enter the codes

    # If any SIM will do, then same question; how do I unlock the keypad

    # Other than putting in various SIMS, is there any other way to find out which network a phone was originally locked to?

Please forgive me if this is not posted in the correct place.

I recently changed phone provider to the ASDA network, since then I find I'm going to need a new to me phone. I like the look of the Nokia 6300 as a good, strong, long lasting, and basic phone that will work in the USA, but to buy one they are asking for at least 70GBP with another sim card... my question, if I buy one of these can I get it unlocked for free? so I can use it with my ASDA sim card? Is this the best price for the phone?

    Thank you

    Cheers

could it be that my phone is hard-locked and would that be why i cannot enter any codes and the keypad seems disabled?

Sorry, BB5 phone, only your network provider, or a pro unlocker can help here.
