I have (hopefully!) cancelled a 3 contract that DH has (I pay for it).
He values his number and a PAC should be on the way soon.....
THinking of PAYG with IKEA or similar instead (or maybe a SIM only deal).
He obviously has his 3 phone to use a new SIM in, but how/when to get it unlocked??
Will they unlock it for a fee (6120 classic) and if so WHEN do I ask them to do this- after the PAC and before we activate this, or after we have transferred the number?
Or, is is unlockeable at the market stall etc after I am well clear of 3??
Or, will a 3G phone not work with a 2G SIM anyway?? (this sounds daft, as the 2G network is used by 3 if you can't get their signal).
THanks!0 -
Hello there,
I have tried to put in a code for my Nokia 1112 - locked onto Virgin pay as you go net work - to no avail. My IMEI no. - is 358062015965658. when I do put a code in - it say "not allowed".
cheers0 -

That means your phone is hardlocked, it needs unlocking with cables and hardware from your local unlocking shop. I'm afraid the free codes wont work as to many wrong attempts have been entered.0 -
Just wondering, why have my previous posts warning against posting IMEI numbers on a public forum been deleted?
I thought I was doing the right thing, warning against doing such things and how people can use them for illegal purposes?Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0 -

Its to difficult to change IMEI numbers these days with the handsets brought out. the reason may be because if people couldn't post there IMEI numbers we cant unlock there phones for them. Its highly Illegal and I did see your post, I think it might scare people off posting there details and that makes them pay for unlocking there phone which defeats the object of we are trying to do.0 -

Three will unlock your phone for £15.
Just call up customer services, they will give you a code and enter that.
The phone will then work on any UK network.
You'll probably have to get the picture message/wap settings sent to your phone by the new network.
One of the main people on the thread might be able give you more info on other ways to get unlocked. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Point taken there, I certainly don't want to scare people off from getting their phone unlocked for free!Total debt as at Jul 2012: Too much!0
