It can be unlocked, but only by direct unlock, no remote codes.

I just purchased a 6230 off ebay to use in the cradle already installed in my new car, it was supposed to be unlocked but i have tried my o2 and my sons orange sim and it keeps saying 'sim failed' the problem i have i dont know which network it is locked to ??? is there anyway i can find this out so i can look up the unlocking code??

You will have to try Vodafone & T.mobile netowrks in the phone to find out, if they don't work it could however be hardlocked already and then would need to take it to a pro unlocker.
