Hi can anybody help? I have a Nokia 6111 on Virgin, IMEI 353657/01/935779/7. Virgin deny all knowledge despite the fact its been locked to them for ages, and they can't give me a code, so now I am stuck.
Thanks

I'm also thinking of buying the Nokia 3110 classic, (also from Tesco) since my O2 phone died on me 2 days ago but I'd want to continue using the existing O2 SIM card in the Nokia.
O2 Customer Service don't seem to be able to agree what will happen if I buy one from Tesco and try the O2 SIM card in it, and if it objects, how to go about sorting it.
They told me yesterday that 50% of these Nokia 3110 classics being sold in Tescos are locked and the rest aren't (????***?/) and so to start with, I'm tossing a coin as to which one I'd get if I just picked one up. (One of their other advisors, told me to insert my O2 SIM card in the back of one in the store and see if the phone connected to the O2 network or not. ERRRR, difficult to do mate with a new and uncharged-up phone. Don't think Tesco would let me mess around opening several phones, switching them all on and off either!!!)
However, my question is this! According to that highly reliable source Wikipedia, BB5 is a network locking system. Does this mean that if I get one of these locked phones from Tesco, that it's actually locked at the network level and not the service provider level? Because I'm thinking as Tesco Mobile is a service provider that uses the same network that my card uses i.e. the O2 network, that may in theory therefore work to my advantage, and I may be under the radar of the lock.
If it's actually locked at the service provider level, i.e. in this case Tesco Mobile then fair enough I'd need to unlock it - and as this thread has already very recently said there ain't any free codes at the mo.
Any advice greatly received since for what I want, the Nokia 3110 classic has the right amount of functionality I want from a mobile at the mo at the right price for me.0 -

Thanks Browntoa for your advice.Today had my £5 asda nokia 1112 unlocked for £10.(it is a brilliant basic phone)Talking to the guy who unlocked it, he was saying that nokia are making it harder to unlock phones AND more expensive. I have a 3110 which came to me unlocked, now i notice these and others are locked.
I will probably sell the 3110 on e bay as soon as my redemption contract ends in june. If the virgin signal is ok i will go with them-If not the 02 £15 sim deal
If you are a virgin media customer you get 300 texts 300 mins any network, all for £10 a month, a good deal. But you only have till MAY 10TH to sign up.
I have had cashback deals for 3 years touch wood no hassle, the V.M.deal sounds a good one if the signal is ok. Hope someone finds this useful!never put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0 -
