Given the wording in the contract I immediately add 20%- really cheeky.
I'd say a reasonable sum would be fees- £300, moving costs £400, 6x month rent + return of deposit ofcourse
Edit: apologies was counting from today so to move out in April - 3x month rent

that's pretty high.... i get the LL has been misinformed, stupid, and not thinking. but you haven't helped yourself. £1300 then ask for moving costs and agents fees and that should be more than enough. and you have 2 months to find somewhere.
you didn't present your best self in your managing of the tax situation, some of the correspondence you sent wasn't particularly amicable.
i just don't know why you would want to drag this out especially as you said your partner was stressed. find somewhere with more security and move on with your £1300.CCCC #33: £42/£240

I think it's worth bearing in mind that the LL would need to rent somewhere, pay all those fees for themselves and presumably rent at similar cost - for a 6 month minimum period.
Asking for rent at the same value for the remaining months is a saving for the LL given the property would be empty for 3 months and brining in no income, but rather cost.0 -
I don't think it's too high; as a LL, that's what I'd have offered.... I might have gone higher on negotiation....0

As a LL I would rather spend it on a holiday cottage somewhere in the stick rented weekly until August than hand over £5k to OP that he can then spend on a nice family holiday!0
