Hi Malc
Why has this only been offered "to a selected group of customers on Energy Plan". Why not to all your EP variable rate customers. What is the basis for treating customers on the same tariff differently? Why am I an E.On pariah?0 -
I originally switched to EON and thought they were competitive and reliable.
My current tarrif is about to run out and their cheapest replacement will mean me paying 23.6 percent rise..
Did I do an amazing deal last year or is this just another example of pigs in troughs?0 -
Umm the rewards thing has been a decider for me when comparing other companies. I think EON is shooting themselves in the foot. Will definitely be looking at switching now and it cant be only me.0

The Fixed V18, and Fixed V19 tariffs from around this time last year were pretty good at the time and fantastic compared to what is available now, this years replacement V21, not so much. Pretty much everyone has gone up since last year but the difference with E.ON is more marked because of those previous discounted rates.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Former_E.ON_Company_Representative:_Malc Organisation Representatives - Private Messages may not be monitored Posts: 6,558I can't believe that they are just selectively offering some customers 2000 points (in a scheme just about to be withdrawn). I would like that offer! It should be offered to all.
They seem to be making a real horlicks of stopping the rewards so suddenly and haven't really thought it through. Although it isn't a huge amount, the 1500 points a year was a small reduction off the price, so this is just a hidden price increase with no compensation. So basically, customers on lower fixed tariffs will get compensated for the withdrawal of Rewards, but those on higher variable tariffs won't! Hmm!
Clever ploy when those on variable tariffs can leave whenever they want ! Might have made sense to lock them in ...Hi Malc

Hello Jeff de B and welcome to the Forums.
The Fixed 1 Year tariff with 2,000 Reward points LGTilley mentions is part of a series of ongoing trials we started doing round about last October. It's part of a wider product review as we look to redesign our portfolio over the coming months.
As well as prices, we're looking at all aspects of our services. This includes the extras/discounts we give and the way we offer products to both existing and new customers. These trials and the recent decision to end Rewards will help us reinvest in different products and services as we go through 2017.
As I posted earlier, the 2,000 Rewards tariff is aimed at a selected group of customers who we think might be interested in this type of package. Specifically, customers on Energy Plan who've opted in to receive Rewards. As such, it isn't widely available. Although priced the same as the Fixed 1 Year version 21 currently available through our website, this product has the benefit of additional rewards.
Totally understand, these offers will appeal to some but not others and it's all a bit experimental at the moment. Things will become clearer as we go through the year. Our website is always a good place to check what's happening generally.
Sorry I can't offer you what you want Jeff de B although, if you're on Energy Plan, we've guaranteed not to change prices until at least this coming April.

Hello LGTilley and you're right, our Rewards scheme is ending on 31 March 17.
Customers on our standard Energy Plan need to exchange their points for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers by 30 June 17. It's a bit different for customers on Fixed Tariffs. Here, all the points that would've built up during their fixed period will be given up front. These customers have up to 2 years to exchange the points.
As you've received this offer, I'm guessing you're currently on our standard Energy Plan. This offer only went to a selected group of customers on Energy Plan who had opted in to receive Rewards.
It's a Fixed 1 Year tariff priced the same as the Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff currently on our website but with an additional bonus of 2,000 Reward points. Customers going on to this tariff will receive the extra 2,000 points within 28 days of switching and, as above, will need to exchange them by 30 June 17. The tariff is currently available to customers receiving the offer until 28 February 17 but we may remove it at any time.
Hope this explains LGTilley. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.

Well no that does not really answer my question. What I'd really like to know is whether or not I'm being offered a good deal or whether or not now is simply the time to ditch e-on. Thank you for your input, but as an e-on rep I'm not sure you can really answer. Looking for an impartial opinion or advice on how to go about evaluating the offer.0 -
Dear Malc
Sorry, but your answer is wrong - you say the 2,000 points v21 offer has been offered to:- "Specifically, customers on Energy Plan who've opted in to receive Rewards. As such, it isn't widely available." I am one of those customers and it hasn't been offered to me. Especially, now that you have publicly confirmed the offer, I think it is disgraceful that you choose to discriminate against customers in the identical position and offer some effectively a hidden discount and others a hidden price rise. The practical issues surrounding the withdrawal of Rewards simply don't seemed to have been considered by your management and need to be reviewed. These 'secret squirrel' offers to some customers but not others don't do E.ON any favours at all.0 -
I got my letter yesterday offering the tariff with 2000 reward points but it was alongside another offer of a fixed 1 year (no reward)tariff that was cheaper than both the 2000 point tariff (even taking the 2000 points into account)and my existing tariff so we are still Eon customers after all for another year.0
