If I were Malc and Helena I would start to look for another job with one of the competitors soon! Btw Flow Energy seems good.
Thanks for the tip foreversummer. Think we'll hang on for a bit though. :)

A question for Malc or Helena that's just occurred to me.

With me leaving E.ON, what happens to my online account?

Presumably it will be closed, but how soon after the switch? Will I have time to claim any leftover points (if I have any)?

And on the subject, what happens to historical usage data? Again I'd assume it gets deleted for DPA compliance but how soon? If I were to return to E.ON in 6 months would things like the Energy Saving Toolkit start from scratch? It's not an issue either way (the old data would be less useful with a 6 month gap unless the missing info could be backdated) I'm just curious.

I've found the EST quite useful to track the effect of various efficiency efforts around the home, and it's another thing I'll miss.

    Thanks Malc. :)

Simplified, (i hope,) :D there are three scenarios:

    a) Customers on E.on's standard Energy Plan who've opted in to receive Rewards, need to exchange them by 30 June 17.

    b) Customers on eligible fixed deals prior to the recent new tariffs, (and including relevant collective fixed tariffs,) who've opted in to E.on's Rewards scheme, have longer to exchange their points for either Tesco Clubcard points or Bonusbond shopping vouchers. These customers have up to 2 years to do this.

    c) Recent fixed tariffs weren't eligible for Rewards. These are Fixed 1 Year version 21 and Saver Fixed 1 Year version 4. Also, the Saver Tariffs for new customers only (withdrawn from sale on 28 October 16) didn't have Rewards.

E.on have also lowered the number of points needed to exchange for Bonusbond vouchers. This is now 100 points for a £1 voucher, (previously 500 for a £5 voucher,) which makes it easier for you to redeem your points, as the scheme draws to a close. :)

Spot on fredandwilma. On each point.

    Hello Raxiel.

Once your new supplier applies to take over the supply, the online account will be locked down and no changes can be made. For suppliers signed up to Faster Switching (takes about two and half weeks), this happens fairly early in the switch.

The new supplier will send us the meter readings they'll open your account from. We'll use the same readings to close our account and issue a final bill. At this point, your online account will be closed down completely although you'll still be able to access if for information. An exception to this is the Saving Energy Toolkit. This will disappear from the online account altogether.

With the Rewards, we'll update your points balance with all the points earned up until you leave and round these up to the nearest 100. These will be shown on your final bill. You'll then be able to exchange your points for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers until all the Reward Points have gone or expired (2 years after issue).

As part of the transfer, we'll send details of past usage to your new supplier. This goes via a third party and is sent via electronic messages.

Sorry to lose you Raxiel and hope this explains what will happen.

I forgot to add - Customers will also collect all their points for the remainder of their tariff, with regard to option b) :)

    Email received:

Don't worry you'll continue to earn points as normal up until the scheme end date. We'll give you the rest of the points you would have earned up until the end of your contract in one lump sum by the end of April 2017, so you won't miss out. You'll then be able to exchange these straight away.

There's no change to your fixed tariff or Terms and Conditions.

    Yours sincerely

    E.ON Customer Service Team

At least i don't have to wait another 18 months. :)

That's right fredandwilma. Customers on fixed tariffs eligible for Rewards will receive all the points they would've earned up to the end of their agreement in one lump sum. Points will be added to accounts by the end of April 17 and customers will have up to 2 years to use them.

There's an aspect to the withdrawal of the Reward Points scheme that I can't see discussed elsewhere - not in this thread at least.

My letter came today, telling me that the scheme is to be withdrawn and that points must be exchanged by 30th June, but appended is the following paragraph:

    Boost your final rewards balance
We'd like to offer you an exclusive deal that gives you 2000 bonus E.ON reward points when you switch to the E.ON fixed 1 year Points Reward tariff. This is currently the same price as our cheapest tariff below.

So I read that as about £20 to lock me in to E-ON for another one year. Am I right, or am I missing something in this labyrinthine game of tariff and contract trickery that the energy companies play?

I can't believe that they are just selectively offering some customers 2000 points (in a scheme just about to be withdrawn). I would like that offer! It should be offered to all.

They seem to be making a real horlicks of stopping the rewards so suddenly and haven't really thought it through. Although it isn't a huge amount, the 1500 points a year was a small reduction off the price, so this is just a hidden price increase with no compensation.

So basically, customers on lower fixed tariffs will get compensated for the withdrawal of Rewards, but those on higher variable tariffs won't! Hmm!

Clever ploy when those on variable tariffs can leave whenever they want ! Might have made sense to lock them in ...

Hello LGTilley and you're right, our Rewards scheme is ending on 31 March 17.

Customers on our standard Energy Plan need to exchange their points for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers by 30 June 17. It's a bit different for customers on Fixed Tariffs. Here, all the points that would've built up during their fixed period will be given up front. These customers have up to 2 years to exchange the points.

As you've received this offer, I'm guessing you're currently on our standard Energy Plan. This offer only went to a selected group of customers on Energy Plan who had opted in to receive Rewards.

It's a Fixed 1 Year tariff priced the same as the Fixed 1 Year version 21 tariff currently on our website but with an additional bonus of 2,000 Reward points. Customers going on to this tariff will receive the extra 2,000 points within 28 days of switching and, as above, will need to exchange them by 30 June 17. The tariff is currently available to customers receiving the offer until 28 February 17 but we may remove it at any time.

Hope this explains LGTilley. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.
