How do you know he's going to get the house?
You have no idea what type of tenancy they have0 -
Think of it this way, if he moved out, £400 alone would be rent alone.
After everything I pay for I'm left with about £300 and cope alright.0 -
No it wouldn't.
He could get a room with rent and all bills included for 350-400. And I dare say some flat shares would be cheaper than that0 -

People wheel this reason out when this subject comes up. However, he hasn't moved out. He isn't paying a landlord who is running a business. He doesn't have the same freedoms he would have if moved out and so not a comparable scenario.0 -
I agree with what Mumps said about secretly saving for them, are that incapable of saving for themselves!
When I lived at home, I saved and even each week/month I was buying small items like kettle, cutlery ready when the time came and worked perfectly.
Got my own home (mortgage) - only what I can afford (damn you 2007 prices then drop)
I had enough of my own money and not gift from parents for deposit, solicitor, survey and bigger furniture.
I was even paying for my own driving lessons at 17 and was only a bottleboy 2 nights a week! So i understood the value of things.People wheel this reason out when this subject comes up. I believe it does, don't like it then move out.0 -
The going rate for rent alone in my area is 250 pounds, for two bedrooms.
It's not the case that hed be paying 400 automatically if he moved out.
As for the if you don't like it leave comments. It might be better for the family if he did.
He could find somewhere he could afford and they won't lose benefits because he's working.
And just because some families save for sons or daughters doesn't necessarily mean they can't do it themselves.
It's a gesture. A member of my family got a lump sum payment when they retired and gave another family member two grand towards a car
He's perfectly capable of saving on his own. Sometimes families just want to do something for other family members.
Some people don't take any dig money from kids, others will take some and give some back and others will take a larger proportion of wages.0 -
He should split the bills, after all hes going to get the house when they stuff it.
Man up and pay your way.
And stop letting mummy tuck u up in bed.
You're assuming they own their own house.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

If my parents had tried screwing me for money the minute I got a job I would of moved out. They didn't, they were fair and gave me opportunity to enjoy couple years limited responsibility before life got serious. I did same for my kids. I call it being supportive.0
