I can't remember what the difference was between the two (there's actually quite a few models).
The thing I like best about it is the range of different heads (apart from needing somewhere to put them) and included accessories. With ours we got the standard switchable head for carpets and hard floors, the parquet twister which is GREAT for doing our laminate and under furniture, the turbo brush for carpets and rugs and another one for uneven wooden floors which we do not use. It also came with an upholstery, crevice and soft brush tool.
Its also surprising how quiet it is compared to a Dyson.
Only negative really is if you're used to an upright, as we were, it takes a bit of getting used to manoeuvring it around.
Oh, and do others find the bags don't last as long as expected? We don't vac daily, maybe a few times a week, but we went through the first bag in about a month. I was expecting them to last about 3 months each. I'm also not convinced by the accuracy of the bag full indicator.
I get through a box of bags in a year. I don't buy the Miele ones either, just generic ones I can get locally. I do have a lot of dust as I have stoves, pet hair, cat litter, shavings from the chicken coop, a right mess to vac daily0 -

How many in a box? The Miele box contains 4, which I was under the impression was a year's supply.
I'm tempted to get their bundle of 4 boxes on their website as it comes with an extended warranty for what is effectively only a tenner after taking off the equivalent cost of 4 boxes. You also end up with a free plastic storage box. Anyone else bought this?

I was a big fan of bagless vacuums until I got the Miele. You can get a box of 4 genuine Miele bags for about £10 from Amazon and a bag should last at least 2 or 3 months. Emptying it is so much easier (and much less messy). I have no experience of upright vacumms apart from my mother's Kirby vacuum (hateful thing). I much prefer a cylinder vacuum for getting into tight spaces and ease of using the attachments.Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -

I think it's four as well, I'm out of them ATM so can't check. They are £6.95 and look just like the real things other then the closing, it snaps in place rather then slides
They come with the filter as well so they do the job
I hated the dyson I had, think it was the original first one. Heavy, noisy and filthy to empty. Now I just remove a compact clean sealed bag and drop it in the bin. No washing dusty parts. Bliss0 -
Bit odd people complaining about the bin filling up quickly. Are you saying the bin is too small or that the vaccuum cleaner is too effective and you want one that doesn't pick up so much dirt?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

The Dyson we had just swirled the dirt around the bin. Well it used to, then it stopped swirling. The Miele seems to compress the dirt meaning that it takes up less space and you need to change the bag far less often that you would have to empty the bin on a Dyson.Norn Iron Club Member 3300 -
I have a cat a dog which both shed a ridiculous amount. I got a Vax pet hair one and it was pretty good. However, I didn't like that fact it didn't have a separate hose/wand thing. It seems to work really well when used as an upright but when you disconnect the pipe to use with the handheld attachments the suction doesn't seem as good. This meant I found cleaning my sofas after the cat had been on a bit of a pain. I also found the stairs hard to clean too.
However, it cost me £75 so can't really complain.
I have just bought a Dyson cordless animal and am pretty impressed with it. It is very light and quiet and makes furniture and stairs really easy to clean. The only down side is I need to empty it after every use.0 -
Miele are my choice.0

I've found that you can actually re-use the bags. I'm not actually that tight, but had run out. A dedicated moneysaver could re-use several times I reckon!0
