Places that only accept cheques are very, very odd.
That's a bit steep.
Can you use anything as a cheque? I think I recall a man once used a cow as a cheque, or did I dream that?0 -

The negotiable cow is a made up story.
You can, technically, write out the details on a cheque on a random bit of paper, sign it and have it processed. However the recipient will most likely be charged a steep(er) fee for banking it and/or will (fairly reasonably) not be willing to accept something that doesn't look like a cheque as a cheque. I wouldn't take it even if banking law says it would be fine.
The fee for drafts is mainly because they're backed by the bank - the funds are taken from your account and ringfenced, and once issued a genuine draft cannot be returned unpaid under any circumstances. If I were in the OPs shoes, I'd be asking why whoever this is only wants a cheque, personally.urs sinserly,

And I am not sure if they will accept from someone who is not me.
If that is the case then would a bank counter cheque be unacceptable? Perhaps a personal cheque is required as a means of proving that you own the bank account that you wish to link to a savings account.
If the above does not apply how large is the amount involved? Postal orders are available for up to £250.
If you live near a Metro Bank and you are acceptable as a customer it can issue bank cards and cheque books when you visit to open an account.

Hello!
I want to pay someone that only accepts cheques. I don''t think I have cheque book or if I was sent one by my bank, I don't know where it is.
Can you tell me please if I can just walk in my bank and have them prepare a cheque for me? I cannot wait for a checkbook to be sent to me. Any bank does this?
Or is there any other way to pay this person, like a post cheque or any other way?
Thanks!
Ask your bank to send you a cheque book in online banking, telephone banking or in a branch.
These days most banks don't automatically provide a cheque book but do so on request. The main disadvantage is that you'll most likely get a book of 30 cheques when you only need one.0 -
Have you tried asking them?duh they only accept cheques!
the question is how to get one easily!
is there any other way to pay this person, like a post cheque or any other way?

guys, will I be able to check out a cheque that has my correct surname but instead of the normal first name, it has my nickname? thanks!0

Depends on your luck. The smaller the amount the less likely it is to get checked thoroughly.0

It's £100, I plan to get it through Halifax's automachines, will there be a problem?0

What do you want? An assurance?
If so, nobody here can guarantee that a cheque with a wrong name on it will be cleared without problems. That's what the word 'luck' means.
If you want to be sure then ask for a new cheque. As simple as that.0
