Is it dry polenta or a block? If it is dried you can use it to cover chicken pieces to make nuggets etc. Dip in egg then the dried polenta.

Unfortunately if it is a block I have no idea!

Hi boxofpaws been reading through your diary.

Split peas, if you really won't use them can you use them for blind baking at all? I know I have in the past with similar items, as I don't own any ceramic blind beans.

Bulgar wheat. Well years ago my mum used to add it to bolognase to bulk out the meat. I don't remember it tasting any different, think she just used to toss a handful in when adding the sauce to the meat. Just a thought.

    Will keep following.

Thank you I'll definitely find a use for the bulgar wheat, we can eat tabouleh in the summer. I will force myself to follow the instructions on the beans. I think I might have bought them with the intention of growing pea shoots- so I might look into that.

Its dried! Thank you, you have reminded me what I bought it for, I had some delicious polenta crusted cod in a restaurant and wanted to recreate.

    • Found a taste-card that we have with still 3 months left on it. This will help with My Plan. We can have a couple of meals out before it expires, and stick well within the entertainment budget.

Wow that's quite a collection of chicken flavourings you have there :) I think the only thing for it is a family gathering where they bring the chicken and you supply the flavouring ;)

  • I found unopened bulgar wheat in my cupboard during the cleanout too.. I took a sort of pleasure in looking up random recipes for that and the other stuff I found - it made me happy to be finally getting them out of the cupboard and GONE!

Hi boxofpaws. Sounds like you're doing by great!! I really like the way you post something positive and something negative since your last post. It must help you to keep perspective, so I might try this out!

  • Well done on your weight loss!! That is a fantastic achievement!!

Polenta fries!! You must make polenta fries! I like rosemary and paprika, but you can add any flavourings you like as you whisk it up before baking. You'll find a recipe online easy. Also, it can be used as mashed potato, which I quite like - it's healthier than normal potato although the consistency is not the same. Lovely with a nice gravy or sauce though. You'll just need lots of seasoning. Oh and I believe you can make polenta cake (a lot of people do olive oil cake or lemon drizzle) if baking is your thing!

    Enjoy! :-)

Just dropping in to say good luck with clearing the debts, you sound so determined and positive I'm sure you'll do it!

You made me lol over the haggis and window cleaner - we pay £15 and I think it's too much but who else is going to go up a ladder with cloth in hand? Certainly not me!

I did it with nutracheck and weightlifting. I would thoroughly recommend both

I wonder how many tonnes of bulgar wheat there are in the backs of cupboards across the land :D
