We have crossed-posts (sort of)! I posted on your diary this morning, and here you've been on mine.
You have a really good reason to have to spend money. Its when it goes and you don't know where or why that its a problem. Yours is all planned and in control :T
Thanks boxofpaws. :T I was quite reluctant to increase the debt but we didn't have much choice in the end. Still not updating my sig until it's official though.:rotfl:
:rotfl: at the Burns night oopsie. :rotfl:
Well done on the nice clean house, always a good feeling. :j
My diary is usually just a lot of rambling but it's a good way of getting down what you've been thinking about as well as doing about your debt. Having input from other people can sometimes help you see things in a different way too. :TSuccess is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Your diary is not boring at all - I am loving reading it so please keep going. I had to laugh at the end. Never mind - you had a lovely meal and that's all that counts!
I am dragging myself to payday which for me is not until the 28th, or the 27th this week. I am positively gasping but at least we have food in the house!
Take care.LBM Jul 16 £26,823.83, Nov 16 £27,961.98, Dec 16 £26,977.66, Jan 17 £26,884.76

He he! So will you do the same meal in four days on the actual real Burns night then?! That did make me chuckle
I'd also like to say that I don't find your diary boring and will not do in the future! I worry the same thing about mine but it's helping me keep on track so it has one good purposeI find it really motivating to read other people's diaries, and it's usually the ones that just talk about normal day to day things, as well as money saving that I enjoy the most. Feels like there are other people with shared goals and that's good. So keep posting please and I will keep reading!
Well done on all the money saving progress (and better the bakery than a full meal out)

Boxofpaws I pay my window cleaner £14 a week. For my commercial premises. I have to have a window cleaner as its a big glass front and it looks mucky otherwise. £17.50 is a bit more, but not out of the ball park. I dont have one at home and although our windows aren't award winning, they don't look dreadful either. Love your accidental haggis, it could become a thing. Surprise it's Christmas (in August) etc" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I enjoy reading your diary too
I'm glad you brought up the collections at work.... I've been hit hard this month with this and I was putting on a brave face!
I've never actually done a spending diary for a month - but tbh I'm quite good at not spending on little luxuries - but it is the likes of work related stuff where the unexpected little spending occurs. We changed our window cleaner to every 2 months and pay about the same as you.
My shopping is done weekly so I stick to that and then I stay away from the shops.
I tend to keep £10 in my purse and try and keep it as long as possible.
I'm going to try filling petrol tank when I get paid rather than pay it weekly... might make me stop making un-neccessary trips if I'm thinking I need to hang on to my petrol :rotfl:0 -
Good things since I last posted:j
- Still logging spends.
- Spent much of last night in a fog of self-righteousness for refusing Chinese even when the husband asked THREE TIMES.
- Remembered on Sunday to soak chickpeas for the next day. Felt very organised.
- Got nominated for some Good Worker Points at work. I now have enough for an Ipad pro or something called a Sonos soundbar. And some other things.
- Found 2p on the stairs at work the other day. It cheered me up
- Our roof is finally fixed.
- We didn't have to borrow money for the roof, I just need to build up the CF again.
Bad things- Discovered that I am unable to digest soaked chickpeas. I tried really hard but spent 2 evenings in pain from eating them at lunchtime. I'll stick to tinned.
- The roof was £600 to fix. On the brightside, it's a lot less than we thought it would be. A lot less.
- Work has been horrific in the last week. I feel exhausted.
- The BTs STILL haven't gone through. It looks like it was because we didn't activate the card, so husband has done that now. Fingers crossed.

I'm enjoying your diary. I cant talk about debt to people in my real life even though I think about it a lot, so its great to 'talk' to people hereI am dragging myself to payday which for me is not until the 28th, or the 27th this week. Before we moved here, the husband promised he would clean all the windows. He did it once. He does put stripes in the carpet when he vacs though, so swings and roundabouts.takingcontrolatlast wrote: »I enjoy reading your diary too

Collections at work - maybe there needs to be some kind of legislation. I bet its not just us who squirm a bit when it comes round.
I like the idea of trying to keep £10 in the purse. I'm going to try it. :TDebt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k0 -

True about the bakery. And yes, we did have haggis on burns night again. We will remember January 2017 as the year of the 2 burns nights. Double haggis.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k0 -
Ahhh, the BTs are going through. The Evilest Card is showing a credit. I need to keep it there and maybe make another payment to pay off the last interest charge. But hurrah, we are making progress.
Santander cleared and closed.
