Nice balance of good things/bad things there (as in a lot more good than bad!) but I'm fuming for you about the car - that's so flipping annoying when that happens! My previous one ended up with a big scrape and dent in the rear wing section while it was parked in a Travelodge car park a few years ago - it was obvious that someone had rammed into it with one of the big metal cages that the laundry comes and goes in, but needless to say nobody could access the CCTV footage when I asked! I was really upset though because in spite of being 10 years old at the time I'd always really looked after her and the only damage she'd ever had had been done by other people!

Hi Paws, I’ve been watching Sort your life out too and going ooh that makes my house look tidy! 🤣
I still have loads of stuff to get rid of (like most people) but it makes me feel a bit better. 🙂
Sorry to hear about the car door, my car has a few scrapes and dings but I caused them all. 👀
I reversed into a metal barrier in the work carpark when I was pregnant last time despite having sensors on the car! I still don’t know what happened, it’s like I zoned out and just accelerated instead of braking. Obviously it had to be in front if 2 male colleagues who then started all the women drivers stuff. 🙄😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. @savingholmes - gives me a warm glow that you’re nice about Mr Paws
@EssexHebridean. The credit card got off VERY lightly
@sashybo I hope your colleagues weren’t insufferable about it.
Good Things- Mr Paws only spent £80 at the bike show. He got some bespoke earplugs which he has been talking about for ages and he got them for a good price. They were £55. The rest was spent on burgers.
- Had a nice time with friends over on Tuesday night. Cheap night too
- Watched the Bond film at last so hopefully Mr P will shush about it now. It was £16 to rent! Still cheaper than the pictures and I got to sit in my nice living room and drink my nice wine.
- Had my hair done with a different hairdresser and don’t hate it for once. I didn’t tip because she owns the salon (debate?)
- Resisted BG brilliant offer of paying double the price for energy in the last 3 months of my fix over the coldest 3 months of the year. It was tough to come up with a hard pass on this.
- Finally got round to cancelling the tiny cat’s care programme. I wasn’t getting the use out of it. £15 month saved
- My mum gave me £20 to get her a £10 and let me keep the change which is sweet.
Bad Things- Sains online shop was still high. I can’t resist adding stuff like coffee and beer when it’s on offer and putting in the larder.
- I have cancelled a mystery PayPal payment from our account. It’s good it’s cancelled but it’s bad that I assumed it was Mr P’s and £10 a month has come out of our count for several months.
- Mr Paws dad in hospital. Smacked his eye socket, most likely when drunk. He’s ok, but Mr P has had a long day
- Had to get the bus back from the hairdresser because Mr P didn’t appear for the promised lift, so we’re not really friends

Love the underwear laundry bags... It's certainly been an interesting discussion...
Stood up at the hairdressers by your lift not great - but was it because he was dealing with his dad?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Laundry bags are now on my Amazon list too Paws, it’s not just you!Sorry to hear about MrP’s Dad too - I can sympathise a bit there as I *may* have encountered similar “when drunk” incidents with my Dad too in the past….😬🙄
Boo to being stood up at the hairdressers - was it as simple as his headspace was taken up with his Dad and something had to give? That’s an ouchy bus far either way so can understand you not really being friends. (Also love that phrasing - it’s the sort of thing we’d use here so I really get the sentiment and the balance of serious/not)
Hairdresser tips is a tricky one. With their tips being individual I can see the logic of not tipping the owner for sure. I’ve tried to be a lot more discriminating about when I tip - although thinking about it it’s two years since I last went near a hairdresser so… last time I did go though I was hesitant about the cut - both the cut itself and the time it took (I go in my lunch break so her taking 1.5 hours not the usual 45 minutes was an issue) and so didn’t tip at all, but it felt very daunting to not do so.BG - and most of the others come to that - are really bugging me with their nonchalant “suggestions” that of COURSE people want to fix again as deals end - or more to the point, well BEFORE deals end. Most of us here are savvy enough to laugh in their face, but I wonder how many are doing it because they expect that they should? I can honestly see another mis-selling thing coming out of this situation.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi Paws, luckily I can give my colleagues as good as I get. They do enjoy winding me up and watching me go, I have a bit of a temper but get over it quickly. 😂 I work on a shift that’s mainly men so can’t be too easily offended. My DH is very keen to watch the new Bond film as well. I do think it looks quite good but it’s quite long and I tend to fall asleep during films even when I’m enjoying them!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. @savingholmes - no, he was putting up the outside Christmas lights. But didnt tell me this, just left me in the street. Still feeling miffed
@EssexHebridean. It felt weird not tipping. I actually had the £10 in my hand but she disappeared and got someone else to tke payment. It sort of loses its enjoyment if you can't say, here, this is for you. So i went away justifying to myself that its fine cos shes the owner but I am not sure if i have convinced myself
@sashybo. I didn't love the film, it is fair to say. I certainly wouldnt recommend paying £16 for it
Today I cancelled the overpayment on the mortgage. I hope this is temporary but we need to focus on this here overdraft. The overpayment was £350.
So so far this month, I have freed up just over £400 per month- British Gas boiler cover £2.50
- Naked wines £20
- Mystery paypal £10
- Tiny cat care £15
- Overpayment £350
So for the upcoming pay day/pay out period (21st to 1st)- In £4000
- Out in DDs £2220
- Credit card payment £1840
- Therefore
- Overdraft will dip by another £100
- Spends CC will go down to £400.
- We will add £600 to CC (aim will be to keep this to a minimum)
The next pay day/pay out cycle should clear half the overdraft
The following will clear the other half.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k4 -
Sounds like you are making good progress. On hairdressers - I tip a fiver at xmas. I occasionally buy him a treat from MnS but mainly because he's a character. I tend to see the price as the price so I would stop stressing if I were you.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I used to tip my hairdresser but the cost wasn't a round figure so I would give her the round figure and not take change. Now the cost is the round figure and she now has a card machine so I pay the price and walk away awkwardly. I usually tip at Christmas but LMG got lots of Prosecco for her birthday (she was 21) so we (she) decided to regift a lot of it. I took (with her permission) a bottle to my last appointment (last weekend) as a Christmas gift so I didn't feel quite as bad. I guess loads of people probably did that but it's the thought that counts.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
