Good Things
- Spent a nice day with my mum on Saturday
- She bought me a lovely Christmas planter
- Tidied out the dresser drawers, and the bathroom cabinet drawer. I have been watching ‘sort your life out’ and been on a little mission this last month.
- Finally extended the tumble drier hose to fit out of the wall vent. It took 5 minutes. I have put this off for 8 years.
- Have made £22 profit doing the forbidden thing.
Bad Things- The forbidden thing felt like a lot of effort tbh and was quite stressful. Will decide this week if I will continue
- No sign of my other expenses
- Did succumb to a little Amazon spend - some little bobbles that you put on your blind cords cos they’re a bit unsightly
Spends - Lidl 21.53. Amazon 6.99
Saintliness - 6/10Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k4 -
Just catching up @boxofpaws you’re doing so well. I did have a chuckle about the 8yr procrastination - I have exactly that problem also and then after I’ve done whatever job I’ve put off, wonder why it took me so long 🤣

I love the saintliness score.
I get that you don't want CCs.
On the bank account - could you create a 'sacrificial' account with an existing bank - stick 2 direct debits on it - and then switch that. I created one in July - and switched it now...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I get your thinking on the bank switching. We were with N@ti0nw1de for EVER - I got my first account with them fresh out of school, then when MrEH and I wanted a joint account we opened that there and he opened a sole one too. Loved that they were a BS not a bank, loved the service, loved the little extras you got with the accounts. BUT over time small annoyances crept in, for us - they clearly ideally want folk on paid accounts now, so are stripping all benefits away from the ordinary ones, losing our travel insurance from the joint account was a last straw. My very old solo account it going nowhere, but we have taken the plunge to switch the joint account to Sant-And-Er and have been paid the incentive for that. I’ve also now opened a second account there in my own name for an eventual switch to FD - but my current plan is that will be it for me for a while. I’ll be waiting for a future incentive offer there too as I want to let the Sant-And-Er “sacrificial” account settle in first. Also love your saintliness score, and am now wondering if I need to explore “sort your life out” or whether it will be a further rabbit-hole I don’t need…! 😂🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

@CL21. I think by procrastination to effort ratio, that might be the longest.@savingholmes re bank. I could do it to anyone other than FD who were so nice, it would feel like stealing. I’ll look into which banks I don’t mind stealing from.@EssexHebridean and @savingholmes - it’s BBC, but there’s an even lovelier version on my5 with Nick Knowles. It will make you want to put things in labelled baskets so don’t watch unless you have a big basket budget.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k4

I have given up my TV licence so can't watch unless goes on Pr1me.

Morning all
Good Things- Cleaned the car port
- Mr Paws had a better day with his dad yesterday (bit of a long story, for another time)
- Work expenses have appeared
- Still mostly eating out of fridge, although did have to buy some chicken to make dinner for friends tonight
- Mr Paws has gone to the motorbike show with his friend, which is nice. See also Bad Things
Bad Things- My lovely car has a ding in her door. What animal would do such a thing?
- Mr Paws asked for my credit card for the bike show. (Where did the eek emoji go?)
Spends - £6 on chicken
Saintliness 8/10. The missing 2 is for dutifully handing over my credit card. But he deserves a treat.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k4 -
I think he deserves a treat too.
Well done on the carport. Always nice too when expenses come in.
Hope you have fun stuff planned for you tooAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
