The brexiteer nutjobs will have nowhere to hide now. No excuses. She said the country was "coming together" after June's referendum, adding: "Now we need to put an end to the division and the language associated with it - Leaver and Remainer and all the accompanying insults - and unite to make a success of Brexit and build a truly global Britain."
Great to see you're fully on board mayo.0 -

Anyone know what might happen if Parliament votes down the triggering of Article 50?
General Election?
I know it's unlikely to fail, but still, stranger things have happened in politics as we have seen!
And on top of that, let's say parliament approves Article 50, and then when the deal is ready Parliament does not approve (May has said they will have a vote on the final Brexit Deal), I wonder what might happen then?
There is a test case coming to the High Court in Dublin to establish if Article 50 can be reversed. Being brought by UK plaintiff.

All very interesting.0 -
While as a Remainer myself I would obviously have wanted things to turn out differently, we are where we are, and at least it was heartening to hear a global leader making the case for Trade, at a time when Protectionism seems to be becoming increasingly popular.
This was actually more clarity than I expected from May today and will certainly put the EU on the spot as to how much Economics v Politics dominates their negotiating position, I'm still not massively optimistic on where that negotiation does end up, so it will be key to try to negotiate other preferential trade deals as quickly as possible.
While we still have to wait a few months for Article 50 to be formally invoked, today does at least feel like the real start of the process, and hopefully starts to reduce some of the uncertainty which lies ahead.0 -
Today's speech has made a second indy ref inevitable for Scotland, next move is over to Sturgeon ... will be interesting to see how that all plays out0

You've said this twice on this forum board, it's not inevitable is it?
Possible, sure, but not inevitable. And the timing certainly is not, since it has to be agreed by Westminster it won't be at a time of Nicola's choosing.0 -

While I agree that its going to happen, any recent polling in Scotland that I've seen still has a clear majority for Remaining in the UK, of course that may just be an oil price spike away from changing!0 -

As you already know we can have a referendum without permission call it advis or if you will, kinda like a Brexit referendum0 -

The only way that can happen is by the PM (and queen) agreeing it. Which they won't.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0
