DAB radio recommendation needed

I have 2 DAB radios - both have weaker reception than FM.
Both sound rather tinny on default settings so BASS & TREBLE controls are a must for me.
What many people don't realise is that whilst BBC DAB radio is in stereo a lot/most of the independants on DAB are in MONO. This is because they get charged double for 2 channel DAB service and just don't want to pay.
DAB has a better range of channels than FM so its a winner on that basis but I think internet radio is probably the best option now.
Agreed - I remember reading that both internet radio and radio via Freeview or satellite have better average bitrates than DAB. It's arguable that for speech radio high bitrates and stereo are not really necessary, but for serious music listeners, I'd say the audio quality on DAB will usually disappoint.0 -
The OP just wants something for the Kitchen, I think a decent, low/mid priced DAB radio would be fine.thescouselander wrote: »DAB radio is pants with its poor bit rates, patchy coverage and most stations transmitting in mono. A WiFi/internet radio is probably the way to go.0 -
Another vote for the Pure Evoke. I have two, one for the bedroom and one for the kitchen. Easy to tune, nice sound.0

We use an internet radio (a Logitech Squeezebox) in the kitchen. The OP just wants something for the Kitchen, I think a decent, low/mid priced DAB radio would be fine.
Looking on eBay, you can get internet radios for under £50, and there are so many advantages over either DAB or FM that the OP should at least consider it as an option.Philip0 -
There are no plans for the UK to adopt DAB+ in the foreseeable future. If you do go for DAB get one that's DAB+ capable, as current thought seems to be stations will eventually migrate to this rather than the current DAB, which is based on old technology.

Alternatively an old phone connected to your home wifi with a radio app....something like this....https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tunein.player
...and then connected to a bluetooth speaker0 -

Can anyone here, from personal experience, recommend a small/medium sized DAB radio make/model for use in our kitchen?
I have a Pure One and it has more annoying habits than a teenager. My Pure Evoke 2S is much better, almost as good as an old FM radio, but I'm not sure it fits your small/medium requirement.0 -
Perhaps you have a weak signal in the kitchen? If so consider an internet radio to connect to your WiFi.0

That's a 7 year old report and some stations are already broadcasting in DAB+
If you're buying a dab radio make sure it also supports DAB+0 -
If you got problem with reception, how about internet radio?
I assume you got decent internet?0
