Any that he will eat - if he does not like gourmet or Iams (which is crap anyway) get him Felix or anything else, get a tin or sachet see if he likes0

I thought renal food would be better for him as it suppose contain antioxidants0 -
There are tins/sachets of Encore food,
my girl seems to really like these,
even half a sachet is something nutritious,
also Tesco and Sainsburys do luxury packs which are about 3.50 for 6 x sachets,
Lidls in jelly are also a favourite of hers as I said before she eats little and often so dont be afraid to wait a bit before taking it away.
I would also like to echo what Getting Ready said,
dried food is no good for cats at the best of times let alone cats with renal problems, any wet food is hydration for them .

Sorry about your cat, I too have lost 2 cats with renal failure , because of this I try to give my remaining cat mostly wet food but she really prefers dry ,its a hard choice to give them something they enjoy what isnt any good for them or try to make them eat wet food which you know they wont enjoy or will probably leave, I still feel guilty not giving them what they liked .0

Savemoney - even if you get him Felix (not the regular one but the one that says "as Good as it Looks" on the pack - those are sachets) which is not top of the range food - the important thing is to make sure he EATS. And I do not know a cat that does not like this variation of Felix - they ALL love it.
What your cat has, there is no cure for it so the point is to just get hm to eat - whatever it is that he ENJOYS eating. To make his last weeks/months/years enjoyable for him. There is zero point trying to force him to eat renal food if he hates it. Try whatever food and find one that he ENJOYS.
You do not need vet food, pet shop food - you get it in your normal supermarket.
But I already wrote it before, several times0 -

There is very little point getting renal food if he is not going to eat it at all, is there?0 -
Just an update
My cat is eating better today we are really at 11th hour with him and my partner wanted to have him put to sleep.
I went to pet at home on Sunday and got some lilys kitchen wet food and some Ava biscuits guy that works there who said he was trained dietician said its some of the best stuff and he seemed genuine and wanted to help.
Cat loves Lilys kitchen and mixed it with some Royal canine renal biscuits made sure food was wet and sprinkled on some Ipakitine Powder from vets which you can buy online. He ate a full bowl and definitely has more energy now but I can still see I got a long way to go0 -
My cat is funny with food at best of times I have to chop and change. He is eating renal food just not the one vet gave us on Saturday which is Hills but he might well do with Ipakitine which I try but if not I got fair bit of food for him now.
I been told to mix it with normal cat food so it gets use to taste and gradually change.
I will take each day as it comes thoughgettingready wrote: »There is very little point getting renal food if he is not going to eat it at all, is there?0
