Somebody has popped out .... and bought crisps and TWO bags of chocolates.

Also picked up some flavoured coleslaw and some cocktail sausages.

I really fancied buying a cheap quiche, but 4ldi only do two varieties: The usual cheap one and an expensive "hand made" one .... and I really wanted something in the middle. One up from "the cheapest".

I'm sure shops used to have a wider range of good quiche flavours - but maybe they've been replaced by aspirational/middle-class/latest fad fillings, reducing choice for those of us with 60s palates.

It's a BH weekend, so I'm trying to think a little bit about having lots of salady options in the house, so I will need to get a tin of spuds (d4mn, I was just in 4ldi and didn't think of that while I was in there) ... a quiche would be nice .... more tomatoes ....

Hard to have the right mix of stuff without it being food overload, in case it rains/turns cold.

Only spotted your post this afternoon, I mooched into M & S this morning, and there was the £10 offer

Better still, my free £10 M & S voucher obtained after complaining, prompted by the CFOers on here, about gristle in the offer burgers I bought a bit back paid for this offer.

Thus free meals for two days, dates were OK for what I bought, pies & pie. Steak & caramelised pie x 2, bramley apple puff pastry pie, divis up readily, & rosemary pots will divi up as well

I'm glad that the offer included things that you like. I was going to get the same main and side as you but either the tarte au citron slices or tiramisu. Added bonus that you got it for *free* :D

I'm please you have replenished your choccie stock :D

I get confused on bank holidays, and would have liked to go out shopping this morning, it will be busy tomorrow. I hope it doesn't turn cold or rain. The forecast for where I am is good, but they did say last night that Sunday could be a bit cooler and that there *may* be the occassional shower Sunday or monday.

Like you I want to get some more salad bits.

Well I've now had an early dinner. I grilled a turkey breast steak and had that with some salad and new potatoes. Then I had an ice cream for pud.

Later I will have a tuna mayo sandwich to use up the opened tin of tuna. I still don't seem to be making a dent in the tuna mountain that I have got :( But on a positive note, its not going to go off.

I don't listen to music and I don't read - can't even see words in bright sunshine either. In fact, I can't sit "in" the sun as I become lightheaded within 5-10 minutes

I can see how that would make the beach MUCH less appealing, even if you weren't likely to end up with someone else's little darlings bothering you.

I'm lucky that, as long as I've got something to read, I can quite easily spend a whole day on a sun lounger without getting bored.

I definitely think you should give the shorts an outing though :D

Yes I'm going to have it. I've had a piece of beef from the same place before and it was lovely. They usually sell it at £16.99 a kilo and it sells really well at that price  and it is £8.49 a kilo, so really good value for the quality :D

I think that says it all regarding cost of running a freezer. A whopping £16.99 saved on one item. I am very lucky in that I get a lot of reduced in Asda. A few months ago I got fantastic bargains in fresh fish, all 50p a pack. Tonight I am having grilled whole seabass.
there were three in the pack and were reduced down from £8. I would never in a million years be eating this if not reduced.

I know a lot of people around here who do really well for bargains in the Asda in this town but unfortunately it is nowhere near me. Before my licence was revoked I never even used to drive anywhere near it and getting a bus there would be really difficult.

I love fish, you were really lucky with that haul :) Sea bass and sea bream are both lovely, but as you say really expensive so itsn't something I have very often :(

I've decided to make my own quiche ... I've some frozen pastry in the freezer I bought in at Xmas to make one, but I had food overload so never got round to it and tossed the pack in the freezer.... so out it's come.

Next is the filling.... I'll have to decide by tomorrow morning (when the pastry's defrosted) what to shove in it. I don't really want to buy anything new .... so it'll have to be any combination I fancy from any of the following:
cheese, onion, tomato, broccoli, chilli, sausage,

I've other stuff I might think of/discover deep in the cupboards .... but it'll be a "use up what you've got" event.

I now can't eat the tomatoes I've got in case I want them in the morning.

    Good evening everyone,

Glorious weather here too but so far I've not managed to take advantage of it as it was "physio day" today so I was away from just 10.00 am and only back an hour ago. It was my last session today so they were really thorough so I'm feeling it now...... it will be worth it though:)

Consequently no CFO so far apart from making toast first thing and lunch was a banana. I suspect despite the heat dinner will be "something in the oven" as easy to do. A glass of red wine will feature:D

I desperately need to move about to ease some of the aches so off for some very gentle pottering and watering in the garden:)

Just spotted I only have two tomatoes (cherry/small). Thought I had five, but I did eat 3 for lunch, so that's that then.

2 cherry tomatoes...not really enough for a tomato/cheese quiche - so then it's the issue of whether I should buy more .... and if I decide "yes", then I might put off starting the quiche and then never get round to it.

So it might have to be a cheese/onion one, just for simplicity.
Nowt wrong with a cheese and onion quiche - I wish I still had some quiche in the freezer as a piece would be ideal for dinner tonight:)
