A friend has an electric grill thingy that has waffle plates with it she makes amazing cornbeef and potato waffles soooo tasty.

I have the white enamel with blue edges, they`re blooming brilliant, just a soak and a wash and they`re perfect. I use the smaller ones for berry crumbles, each one for two days. I make a topping with ground almonds, butter and some xylitol.

Money the only waffle recipe I have done so far is the oats one, 1 egg, 40g oats, plain yoghurt and I added some vanilla. 200 c and 25-30 minutes. They came out firm and looked nice. That recipe was just right for one waffle. I imagine you could make anything up to go in there, any combo of egg/egg white, flour/potato, butter/oil. I am having my first one tomorrow, out the freezer and warmed, looking forward to it and should be filling with a big mug of tea

Breakfast - nutri-brex with almond milk.
Lunch - vegetable stew from freezer.
Dinner - shepherdless pie from freezer.

Snacked on fruit. Drunk coffee (duh) and water. Thinking about a cherry and coconut flapjack.

Builders in sorting out the rotten decking and rebuilding it so had crumpets and a cup of tea for breakfast.

Got new ceiling light put up and curtains in big upstairs bedroom and some shelves put up and then realised it was after two and I was starving. Another cuppa and crumpets!

Youngest dd coming to stay with BF so got three bedrooms sorted out and cleaned , tidied and hoovered like mad. Middle dd and BF are staying overnight as well so have lots of breakfast foods in - bacon, eggs , sausages, orange juice , croissants and rolls.

Looks as if there will be eight of us on Sunday so have steaks to defrost, onion rings and salad and will need to pop out for a dessert.I plan to cook chips in the actifry and make a few portions to then keep warm in the oven. Trying to keep cooking simple so I don't get fazzled and can make everyone relaxed and welcome.

I realised how much work was needed to clean but could not get anyone in the last two days to help out on a professional basis so ended up doing everything myself and having to pace myself so I did not get too tired and out of breath.

Had a nice meal out and having an early night while waiting for four of them to come back after going out for a drink. My bedroom now looks like a tip as everything has been shoved into it so other rooms look good.

Another skip is outside which should have been collected this afternoon but is still there in all its glory. Eventually the house should be sorted out so it is safe and comfortable for me and any family staying over but it seems never ending. The guy who owned the house before seemed to think he was a master of all trades but should have been sadly disillusioned years ago. Still finding dangerous and bodged works that are so bad I actually wondered if he were trying to kill me or if he was just "odd" in a generally dangerous way.

I had my first waffle breakfast today, after all it is saturday and I wanted a bit of a treat. Half a small grapefruit and oat waffles from the freezer. They remaining firm and defrosted before my mug of tea was ready. Nothing on them and 5 pieces, one waffle, to eat. I feel full, they were very satisfying, a nice bit of crunch, like a biscuit, almost. Not sweet but I could add maple syrup on top for the children. A very nice breakfast if I am honest and didn`t get eaten in a flash

Later today, it has to be soup and a cheese scone. Soup was lovely, considering it was celery, onion and garlic. It was the marigold boulion, makes everything tasty

Also a salad as I got organic salad leaves in my order yesterday. I will wash the lot and store carefully, should be enough for three days. I bought a small caulie, which I will prep and wash today, to store in a vac jar. It will keep well for the whole week

I am thinking of making another sd loaf this coming week but am trying to sit on my hands as I have slices to finish first. I`ll just feed the starter today and bung him back in the fridge for a few days, he sleeps in there. I am going to be making my first 100% spelt loaf, should be interesting as there isn`t as much gluten and it will spread more. It will be rising in a banetton (cane basket) and I`ll have to be quick upturning into my red hot covered baker

Another solo day today but at least there is no noise and no babble all around

I bought a sour dough loaf this week as it was y/s down to 42p. I hadn't had any for a number of years and thought I would give it a go. Turns out I really like it. It is a wholemeal one and makes the nicest toast I have had for a long time. Its usual price is £1.30 for a small loaf so I want to have a go at making my own.

I did a bit of research online yesterday and I think I will get the starter going tomorrow. I will make a loaf and see what it is like :)

I randomly bought a pack of sliced chicken yesterday ... with a date of today, so I' might make that a chicken dinner, with Yorkies, roasties and veg. That'll clear some freezer space too. That'd be the "best use" of it as it's a "proper meal".

Not feeling like food today though, so we'll see how it works out.

I might also make a coronation chicken sandwich .... there's too much meat for one meal really. I bought the big bread baps I like ... so maybe a "stuffed full" CoroChick fat roll :)

I am glad you liked it holly. Shop bought ie supermarket and most bakers, sourdoughs only contain a blob of sd plus yeast, they are allowed to call it sourdough. Artisan sourdough, the real stuff, is only made with sd starter, flour, water and salt. However it is easy to make long fermented bread at home, it also has a lovely taste. You just use far less yeast and rise slowly, in the fridge. That develops the taste and changes the sugars from the flour, it is easier on the tum.
