Afternoon everyone,
After having a really munchy day yesterday I've been much more restrained today.:)
Curry is simmering away and younger son appeared with some samosas and pakoras to add to the feast so I'm going to try not to snack before then! That said I get a whiff of some lovely brie whenever I open the fridge so may succumb to a cracker and cheese......
I think I've now got all the meals covered until Monday though I may well be CFO tomorrow night which is fine. I need to write a list of what needs prepped when for Sunday so it doesn't end up being a mad dash at the last moment before folk arrive:)0 -
Sorry to be late clocking on today, t'internet went belly up and the little circle thingy just kept going round until it all timed out
Filled in by at last potting on my tomatoes ans sowing mixed annual flowers in large pots, sun was out, now dull and bit chilly
After a banana & honey sandwich for breakfast I popped into Asda this morning, just mooching 'cos food was all sorted out I thought, but spotted an Extra Special mozz & cherry tom pizza on YS offer at £2.45 from over 3 quid. Now that is something I would normally leave on the shelf as not a big pizza lover, and the price was a bit OT, but being Easter I thought I would go for it
Thus yesterday's YS flan is now in the freezer, LO 1/2 of yesterday's YS pork pie for today's dinner went down the hatch at lunchtime and I had all the pizza for dinner as it was not very filling
And what a let down it was, the crust was so thin the blooming thing bent as it went in the oven, at least only one plate to clean
I may have another banana sarnie later, having managed to finish up with a glut at 20p a bargain bag and still hungry
I used to use the shopping delivery when it first started years ago, it was so long ago that even the kids in the street were in awe at the old git shopping on line:) Back then I had two kids at school, 2 cats, 1 dog and no car and on line shopping was a God send, and only Tesco did it then
Kids married & pets died, got a car and no longer need on line shopping mainly as I like mooching and really do not buy enough to make even minimum spend, plus as someone mentioned, I see the "pickers" going round the store, no looking or checking, just grab what is at the front / top and pop it in
I think if I had to go back due to illness or such like Iceland would probably suit, only £20 spend needed, and frozen can't really go far wrong can it?
My local Iceland, maybe all, let you choose in store and they deliver it if over £20, no idea on delivery cost though
Tomorrow as I mentioned is now confirmed, Easter egg hunt, lunch is around 1ish over the daughter's place so that is Saturday taken care of regarding CFOGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -
sliced tomato, yum yum, love them when they are properly ripe:)
I ate everything on my list plus frozen cakeand then somehow managed to stop myself picking, don`t know how. I`ve got to make breakfast more interesting so I`ve ordered a silicone waffle maker for only £1.26 from amazon. There is a recipe in the reviews and its a good one, one egg, 40g oats and half a yoghurt. Thats a brilliant recipe tbh and may well give me the crunch that I crave
I haven`t a clue what to eat tomorrow, just know that I have a lot of fresh veggies in the fridge, so maybe a lamb chop, well that would be a treat anyway. Oh the bit of rhubarb was lovely, had it with a dollop of my special hm ice cream, got another in the fridge for tomorrow
I have to be glad I`m not in walking distance of any shop, I would be so tempted. Just now and then I prowl around the house looking for a snack, anything. Good job I gave a massive christmas poppycock away yesterday. That why I am avoiding making the likes of lovely ginger biscuits, I love crunchy and sweet. Don`t even mention pringles, if I had any in then I would go through the whole lot. My mouth hunger is in overdrive at the moment, even though my tum is full. Maybe a drink of water will satisfy it?
I`ll have to sit in a mo and make some sort of eating list for tomorrow, it does make me focus and have a pretty balanced day, otherwise its whatever and that can make me feel yucky by the end of the day
cycling is still on and I have increased mileage to 9.5 and three climbs. Thats good for me as I started with a tentative 2, just three weeks ago. I have to do it or I`ll turn into a blob0 -

A sliced tomato is my favourite sandwich filling. I don't have them too often as I'm worried about going off them. That would be a pain.
Thanks for mentioning the bakeware.
I just ordered the £1.26 waffle maker on Amazon, had a survey voucher burning a hole in my pocket.
Reviews of the waffle maker are generally positive, I like having pancakes for breakfast every so often - UK and American - this will be a nice change.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Not eaten yet today, been too busy...I'm now so tired I cba, but if I go to bed haven not eaten I'll be woken by a grumbling tummy.
Toast may be required yet again, I've no energy or inclination to cook now.
Today was one of those days that having a second pair of hands would have made life a hell of a lot easier and I'd have been reclined on the sofa 4 hours ago...
Funny that my married friend didn't quite 'get' that and mocked my tiredness and frustration...:('I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Not too shabby today ... it could've been worse. Total scoffathon ended up being:
2x toast/marg.
2x tomato sandwiches (4 slices/2 tomatoes)
6 chocolate sweeties
1 packet of cheese/onion crisps
1 scotch egg
420 grams of homemade potato salad
6 cherry tomatoes
Look ...some actual fresh vegetable thingies in there if you look hard enough!
I've hard boiled 4 eggs, which are now in the fridge to be grabbed/used on demand. Not sure what for yet, but it's always good to have a boiled egg (or 4!) in the fridge when there's a high chance of sandwiches being eaten.
Day turned out to be quite chilly really, it never rose above 63F/17C all day. I should've popped to the launderette, but didn't think of that until late in the evening - so I wrote myself a note so it's the first thing I see in the morning.0 -

I think we'll all "get" that here.
I know that for some things I wait until I have a 2nd pair of hands here one way or another. If I want something heavy moved from a to b then I wait for the next visitor here and get them to help me with it. Few minutes and that's it and Job Done - rather than "pushing and shoving" at things from one angle and then another angle and so on.
Things starting to grow in the garden - so possibilities of grabbing a handful of greenery from there. Been "skiving it" a bit still this year - buying plug plants (courtesy of all that kitchen research and then work). But next year - it's going to be "done proper like" (with starting from seeds). Oh well - plug plants are better than nowt (if dearer and far less variety than I'm able to get by starting at seed level).0 -

couples just don`t get it. The fact that singles have to do ALL the work by themselves. Not just the lifting and pushing but all the work that appears in the home, all the cleaning, gardening, maintenance, shopping, washing. I was asked to do some continual work in the village the other day, I was the person that came immediately to mind because `she was keen and helpful`, admin type coordinating work. Well I said no. I have reached my limit of what I do for anyone outside family. I do enough to pull my weight and more
A satisfying breakfast today, cheese on toast. I am going to have to do without a mid morning snack because breakfast was filling. Got to get a chop out for lunch and all veg are ready in the fridge, thats what I do when I can, get the veg ready and keep it in ziplocks or a special jar. Later, the end of the soup. In between, I`ll get my fill of berries etc and I`ll try to stay away from frozen cake. Had to make more cake as I have visitors but wasn`t going to waste oven space so the freezer is again replenished with brownies. Wish I hadn`t but good when I am prowling for a snack :cool:0
