Having had both I can recommend the pooch option :D Pretty indescriminate in the food dept, doesn't sulk, doesn't hog the remote but still there for cuddle if one's needed:rotfl:

Also having done both I am taking the opposite view, my pooch didn't sulk, didn't hog the remote but took a big chunk out of me when I lost him. Was going to get another but took stock and thought at my age its just not fair, not much money and boy do vets cost, not so much energy let alone inclination to go out in the rain for walkies. Have bad days sometimes and CBA to feed anything, not fair on a pooch. I think a dog is a 100% commitment and I don't have that left.

My lovely Man , met on Dating site, on the other hand, lives a 100 miles from me so only meet up weekends , never sulks, eats anything, dosent have time to hog the remote, he does my decorating, DIY and all heavy lifting. I love him to bits and have told him if hes still around when I am 90 I will marry him but if he pees on the carpet hes going straight home LOL

LOL - sounds like you have a lovely relationship, just do away with carpets and you'll be fine :rotfl: Could you rent him out for DIY to us struggling oneskis? :D

    Sounds perfect :D.

I admit, I wouldn't mind one of them under those circumstances :o, though I'd never marry, pee on the carpet or not :p

    Enjoy Meg :D

    Good evening oners !
Just a quick update on today's meals....
Breakfast - porridge and banana and 3 prunes.
Lunch - 4 oatcakes, hummus, an apple, brazil nut, few almonds
Dinner - A carbonara type thing - HM bechamel sauce with wholewheat spaghetti, one lonely rasher of bacon chopped and fried, along with some added broccoli that is starting to lose its colour but I'm adamant not to waste it (through out a whole mango yesterday so very disappointed in myself). I made the mistake of putting parsley in with this too but its strong flavour dominated the dish and everything else appeared bland - I could hardly taste the bacon. That was only because the parsley is starting to turn and I didn't want to waste it. I hope the coriander is rescuable by tomorrow, so I can add it to a chick pea curry. I seem to be deciding what to eat by what has the shortest shelf life rather than what I would like....

No goodies today, that's because there are none in, I can never buy goodies and think ' now these will do for the rest of the week' as once I know they are there I keep going back for more!!

So that's it! My fridge is looking a little sad and empty, there's a ys stew pack of root veg that I bought the other day but I have no meat to add to it and not sure what else I can do with stew pack veg other than a casserole which I would imagine would be rather lacking in something....like meat...I have one egg, one tomato, a cucumber, cheese, half a pot of hummus, mozarella, tin or sardines, tin of lentils and tin of chick peas left to make things with....oh yes, tinned tomatoes, cous cous, pearl barley, rice, pasta

A funny thing just happened.... I suddenly realised there's something I don't know!

It all started about an hour ago when I was thinking of food, for a change - and decided to open the pitta bread pack and get some onion from the freezer and grate some cheese and have a cheese/onion pitta. The plan there was "that'll count a bit ... 10/day".

But then it went a bit wrong as I was standing beside the toaster grating the cheese and thought "Bugg4h, the onion's frozen and I CBA to waste time defrosting it to shove it into the pitta..... I know I'll have Branston".

So, I was about to tell you that and I thought how I'd not had that 1/10 and then I jokingly thought to myself that I'd write that Branston must have something in it that counts - and I realised .... I actually have never wondered what is in Branston pickle! Haven't got a clue, never thought about it ever before ....
Branston Pickle is made from a variety of diced vegetables, including swede, carrots, onions and cauliflower pickled in a sauce made from vinegar, tomato, apple and spices.

    Source: Wikipedia

Look at THAT!!! That's nearly 10/day in every jar! :) Six in that list.... all I'd have to do is eat about 1Kg of Branston/day and I'd have nailed a large chunk of the 10/day :)

But their own website has a different list:
Vegetables (54%) (Carrot, Rutabaga, Onion, Cauliflower, Marrow, Gherkin), .... Date Paste (Dates, Rice Flour), Apple Pulp ....Tomato Paste ... Lemon Juice Concentrate, Onion Powder, ....

    Source: https://bringoutthebranston.co.uk/range/pickle/original-pickle/
That's a bigger list of things.

    How true is that :T:T

Had my pasta bolo early as Im off to work for a couple of hours. So glad thats done for a while now one more bag in the freezer but I wont be rushing to eat that:)

Whats everyones views (if you have any that is ) on beef curry? I have some folks coming for food on Weds and I have a big pack of stewing steak in the freezer which I wouldn' t mind using up ...thinking of all the space it would leave :rotfl: anyway I thought beef in red wine first but it didnt seem the thing to have for a girly supper so then it became curry but not made many (or any) beef curries so don't know if its a good plan. I do have some chicken too so could do chicken curry but would prefer to use up the steak:)
    Sorry for the waffle lol

How about a chilli con carne with the beef? It doesn't have to be mince.

No idea what is going on in this oneskis household.

I have just eaten breakfast for the second day running

Been up since 4am and was hungry so had a very large ciabatta roll toasted and drenched in unsalted butter with a large cup of milky coffee....utterly exhausted now :o

I could eat a banana for breakfast ....but it's 15 feet away and so I really can't get motivated enough to walk that far and peel it. Don't really fancy it to be honest... but it's food and it's there.

Cooking is so hard isn't it .....

That's why I love toast, so simple to make. Slice out of packet into toaster and it pops up when it's done. All that's required is a liberal spreading of butter and only one knife to wash up :D
