its great to see a thread that doesn't talk about what "He" is having or what each of the family members will be eating ....I dont care lol
It used to be one of my "beefs" (slide in the food reference).... I used to say that "the trouble with married women is...." they never lived. Ask them ANY question and they never answered it, they didn't exist.
"Do you like pie?"
"My husband loves pie - and when the kids come home from school I make their favourite pie"
NEVER ANSWERED THE QUESTION ... I DON'T CARE!!0 -

Day off cooking today as its book club in the local pub which is really just an excuse for dinner out and a few proseccos
:D
Downside is I have no where near finished the book so may be some cramming going on today in between the obligatory work. This of course may require snacks0 -
About the pulses : after you've soaked them you need to put them in fresh water and bring to a fast boil for ten minutes - to do away with a potential toxin.
Saying this, I raised five children on lots of pulses (cheap and cheerful), but hadn't heard about this, so it wasn't done. They all survived.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
That is soooo true ...
I found, in the main, that there was no way to ever get to know these people, or ever become "friends" as their sole focus and source of conversation was about their family ... right before they checked their watch and dashed off to them.
You can't have any conversation with any of them ... they do not exist. They are simply robots providing services to people you don't care about and will never see/meet ... and who sound annoying/demanding
"Oh, I love pie ... but I can't eat it as my husband won't eat it".
Er .... if people can't make/eat food for one I'd die. Try it!0 -

Opener:
"Hello... I've a confession to make this week ... I've not read it - so I'll be really interested to hear what you guys made of it before I tackle it later tonight"
Then sit back and scoff/listen without guilt.0 -
Today it'll be scrambled eggs on toast I think .... although I've still those spaghetti hoops ... so it'll end up as spaghetti hoops and scrambled eggs on toast.
I must say balsamic vinegar really "peps up" cheap tinned pasta a treat! Takes it into the "edible" zone. So glad I randomly bought that bottle... I'll use it a lot.0 -
