That's because the people who are recommending their locales are not complete sociopaths0

Yes, because of the deep mining tunnels that house fall into, and radon gasmoneyistooshorttomention wrote: »....no risk of fracking nearby
Well at least you can put "has a large cellar" on the advert.

Yes, Bath, the city I moved away from, was similarly 'ruined' by over-popularity.moneyistooshorttomention wrote: »Admits to sitting there in total astonishment at the whole concept of people publicly suggesting "Come to our part of the country"....as I've come from an area that has been ruined by people doing exactly that.....grrr....
It's so 'ruined' now, house prices have gone through the roof since I left! :rotfl:0 -
Another recommendation for Northumberland here. But stay clear of Morpeth, full of people who aren't quite as middle class as they think they are. Get a nice semi detached for circa £120,000 around Amble/Alnmouth/Alnwick0

One quick google at wikipedia later - intrigued by what you mean by that comment...
Well - I can see that there was a recent major flood there involving around 1,000 homes (which must represent a sizeable proportion of the homes there - judging by the population level).0 -

I agree with him in parts, Morpeth attracts a larger slice of the "Keeping up Appearance" type than is normal up north, but that's because its a great place to live.
I would also happily live in Amble/Alnmouth/Alnwick but they are all much further from a city, Morpeth to Newcastle is 23 mins Amble/Alnmouth/Alnwick are 43/47/45, and not as good connections to roads (A1 is single lane north of Morpeth in parts) or rail, so depends on whats important to you.0 -
I don't know Chorley in Lancashire but have been looking at houses there for a different reason and some of the property is very cheap. I am sure there must nice parts. Also how about Stoke?0
